Gotta be honest. I’m not a fan of first person. They’re going to have to do some convincing before release to get me to buy it.

This is at least the 4th new Silent Hill game in a row to not take place in Silent Hill. Not counting the remake of SH2, the last time we actually played a Silent Hill game in Silent Hill was in what, 2012? And that wasn’t even a good game. What’s even the point of calling it Silent Hill anymore? Just milking the name recognition at this point.

I was still interested, but after I was disappointed with f, I don’t know why I thought I wouldn’t be disappointed with this one. Obviously not taking place in actual Silent Hill, first person perspective, the combat looks too action-y, the radio TV seemingly acting like an XRay for some reason, the developer seems to think that SH2 is the only story in Silent Hill for some reason, and that random people can’t be brought into the town to deal with problems other people created, etc.

I am disappointed in myself thinking that somehow Konami would be different this time.

Back when all we knew about this game was the name, I was originally hoping that this would be a game that takes place in like, the late 1600s to early 1700s US colonies (part of Maine being part of Massachusetts Bay Colony, of the original 13 colonies), and it would be the actual town of Silent Hill but wood log cabin buildings, people wearing cloaks and the goofy buckled shoes and hats they used to wear back then, etc. When the settlement that became Silent Hill, Maine was founded upon native land and the mysterious epidemic wiped out the town’s population, before it was abandoned and turned into a penal colony. Before it was officially named the town of Silent Hill.

But to see that it isn’t even in the town?
