The perpetual conflict and instability in the region is partially being kept alive by intellectuals, he claimed, as “they can’t grasp the notion that that’s how wars are resolved, one side defeating the other and the other side crying uncle and giving up…. Their emotion and compassion get in the way of logical thinking.”

While Israel has debatably won the war against Hamas and Hezbollah, despite not yet having achieved all the goals it set out for the conflict, Lippman acknowledged that there was a key front the Jewish state was sorely losing in: the diplomatic war.

Unfortunately, nations seldom succeedively produce leaders of the high caliber of Donald Trump, and the US Constitution has put a term limit on this window of opportunity.

This is how the people think that are forcing us into war with Iran and it should legitimately terrify you on this war’s eve.

Not surprising. I’m sure they’ll do as much wars and expansion as they can get away with. It’s not like the US, or even Europe for that matter, has stopped providing weapons and support for genocide. Let alone their other theaters of ethnic cleansing and settler colonialist expansion

There’s a weirdly vacant amorality about modern issues. I think the MIC shuffle goes something like

-CEO is obligated to enhance shareholder value, so supplies weapons (stand-in for lossy shit that doesn’t help QoL of most people), Company spreads manufacturing around a bunch of regions in a country -Government permits arm sales because otherwise weapons mfgs would cut jobs (and couldn’t develop as many new weapons for the Gov’s use)

      • arms proliferate, get used
      • repeat

Truly breaking out of this will probably require courage and PPE that our electeds don’t have

Anyone want to tell the opinion writer that the number 1 Epstein Client who has made everyone his enemy is not the best ally?

Seriously in all likelihood Israel is fucked in the long term should a war with Iran actually happen

Well if your even slightly religious or know the Bible in general. I am not, but this is making me reconsider. his peace board sounds awfully like the covenant talked about in revelation, Daniel, and theologians.

Now billionaires generally don’t like being told no and for $5 billion they probably want some return on their investment. Alot of these wanting to join don’t get along. So let’s say they actually announce a peace deal of about 7 years Bible says that lasts only about 3.5

There were already legit concerns about him being a biblical antichrist

It sounds all absurd honestly but sadly the Born Again Christan Nationalists are in the government so wouldn’t shock me that is the logic being followed.

I would argue that is exactly why Netanyahu is pushing for war on Iran. Netanyahu needs Israel to be a Pariah state maimed by cataclysmic war in order for his own legitimacy not to collapse, not that Netanyahu is the sole villain here by any stretch but it is always worth underlining as you have that this will only hurt jews and make them forever less safe while the true driving culprit of fascism gets off scot free, jews having served as a convenient scape goat for the world’s learned helplessness to fail to evolve and have a more nuanced conversation about colonialism, capitalism and xenophobia yet again.

The story Netanyahu is writing here practically demands the audience say “Blame the Jews!” in a way that offends me deeply and I am not even Jewish, I just find it a disgusting betrayal of a religion practiced by a good portion of the earth with a complex history. This is the kind of evil that can only be done by a small handful of tiny men spending great amounts of effort to lay the architecture for genocide, though complicity extends deeply, irrevocably throughout Israeli society at this late stage of systematic violence of course.

I mean did he try the whole “only I can protect Israel from Hamas” only for that to backfire when Hamas did its bold breakout and Raid operation?

I mean normally that causes a rally round the Flag but in Netanyahu’s case people rallied around wanting him out of office (kind of, he is still holding the plurality but polling put Israel going back to the unstable Kaneset and the Arab Israeli parties sitting as the king makers)
