Is that because you lived a life so unremarkable that nobody would want to look at photographs of you, even for historical source material or are you so miserable that you don’t want any photographs of yourself because when you look at them all you can see is the pain in your eyes that only you can see through the lie of a smile you use to protect others from knowing the depths of your despair?

If they get past a 0.07 with 1 white claw, I envy their lack of tolerance induced financial burdens and I hope they have a great time where nobody gets hurt but I also hope they know their limit and never drink and drive because we all share the road and a drunk driver probably won’t end up killing the person who doesn’t understand that the left lane is for crime that really ruins the buzz on my drive home.
Have you ever looked through a photo album with pictures from your grandparents’ grandparents?
Now imagine your relatives looking through a photo album from your life and being able to hold the same photograph that you held when you put it in the album. Imagine them looking at the back of the photograph and seeing the handwritten note that indicates who is in the photo and the date, maybe with a comment on the photo.
Digital picture frames are decorative e-waste, photo albums are a gift to the future.
In the time period they were referencing Polaroids were at risk of extinction because only one company was making the film at one plant and only through the complaining of hipsters were you able to have Polaroids at your wedding.
2001 Polaroid went bankrupt. 07-08 cameras and film stopped production.
2010 a hipster group restarted production.
2020 new Polaroid cameras are introduced.
Many younger people only know Polaroids as an icon in a video game or a prop from a music video; they don’t know what they are called.
It at least can provide context relative to a known state.
Any additional cupcakes consumed after the session may be a talking point for the next session, which really helps with customer retention and job security.
Is there shredded cheese?
Dumb question, there is always shredded cheese if you remembered to go shopping. The real question is if it is grated to the appropriate size to shovel into your maw.

If your toilet was powered by an AGI, do you want it to like your waste or hate it?
Death_Equity@lemmy.worldto movies@piefed.social•‘Superman’ Kiss Censored in India, Drawing Fire From Fans and Film Community41·2 days agoThem censoring a kiss because it is too sensual is funny because India has over a dozen temples that are literally covered with hundreds or thousands of carvings depicting people having sex in a wide variety of positions.
Death_Equity@lemmy.worldto Work Reform@lemmy.world•Trump just made It OK to continue paying disabled workers peanuts10·3 days agoAnyone that is legally disabled that can still work, deserves time and a half all the time and their paycheck should not make any difference to their government assistance.
If you have the same job and are upset that they are making more than you, know that all that keeps you from getting a raise is your resolve and willingness to sacrifice.
He was decent at the pitch and everything, but I am street smart and could smell the bullshit immediately.
The other guy who was working in a gas station would have been a great mark that hit all the qualities of someone that would have chased the promise of a better life the dude was trying to sell us. I really hope he cut and ran and is doing well.
Hopefully some young or desperate person reads the story and remembers it when they get approached for an MLM.
Death_Equity@lemmy.worldtoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•Investors bought 27% of US homes in Q1, as traditional buyers struggle to affordEnglish3·4 days agoThat is a viable means to force a quick sale at a buyer favorable price, but that would also harm other homeowners in the area because the value of comparable homes of a similar type that have sold are factored into the estimates on houses going on the market.
So say a corporation is losing 5K a week off the sale of the home, it drives the price well below market because the market conditions aren’t ideal at the time. The house sells for $50k below fair value. The week after that house sells, a similar house down the street goes on the market for $50k less than it would have prior to the other house selling.
That could be a big problem for the homeowners that want to sell and could cause some big problems for foreclosed houses seized by a local bank or credit union.
I don’t support that idea. I would rather forbid corporations from buying houses in their name.
Death_Equity@lemmy.worldtoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•Investors bought 27% of US homes in Q1, as traditional buyers struggle to affordEnglish8·4 days agoAnother bad aspect is that institutions use the assets(houses) as leverage for stock market plays. So they just stack profits on profits while generating profits and your average person can’t buy a house with a mortgage lower than their rent that goes up every year.
Death_Equity@lemmy.worldtoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•Investors bought 27% of US homes in Q1, as traditional buyers struggle to affordEnglish381·4 days agoI like the tax hit on purchase, but I want ownership term limits of 5 years and massive taxes on the gains at sale.
Make corporate home ownership not worthwhile again.
There is a difference between forced socialism where the government uses their monopoly on violence to compel participation in distribution of resources under duress and personally giving of what you do not need to those who have less.
The store management willingly being charitable in their own community is fantastic and should be encouraged. It is the right way. The community should respond by giving them more business.
The government raising taxes to fund organizations that accomplish nothing of value at a high price while their management grows wealthy should be abolished.
An example is LA spending over $24B over 5 years to address homelessness without meaningful results. That average of $42,000 per person per year should easily handle the problem, even in LA metro. If they spent $75k per person per year, that should result in more than 5x the 45k homeless people LA has being set up in better circumstances. They tout 4.5k people getting off the streets last year as a win.
Compare that to Abode Services that helps 4.4k people every year with an operating budget of $29m.
Letting the government get involved only leads to waste and fraud as entities bid for contracts that they will commit fraud with the funds and nothing of value is done. It creates bloated administrative bodies that are only self-accountable and only have to report some progress to keep being awarded more and more money.
I am thousands of miles away from my home. I have been back a few times over the decades and every time I feel more peace, because I am home. I don’t feel at home where I live, it still feels foreign to me because the environment is so different than the land my heart calls home.
The heartbreaking part is that it has deteriorated in some parts so that my heart hurts seeing it. The part that I am from remains what I remember, but going to the major city causes distress at the state of things.
