I’ve used this a few times in england. It’s okay for the novelty or if you like eating anything/everything but I have the same criticisms - you’re getting a few random old things they can’t sell. Its usually not a very good deal, just like buying reduced stuff at the supermarket is usually substandard in some way.
I think companies etc should be banned from sharing news and updates there. Eg. A lot of public transport news is shared there, sometimes exclusively. It would be ideal if people could get access but nothing official or important was facilitated. Imagine if we were having to access truth social to find out if public transport was cancelled due to a snowstorm - well, now xitter is truth social.
Lindt is a high quality European brand but definitely more expensive. M&S brand chocolate is nice and decently priced. Other supermarkets have their own brands which are cheaper but not as nice IMO.
I’d rather agree to take a pill at 75 and have the means to enjoy retirement prior to that. At least in the UK we’re soon to get the right to die. I’d like to arrange to opt out in advance if I get dementia - that’s cruel and can go on a long time.
Do English trains have actual food anymore, even in first class? It’s been years since I travelled first class.
Omg thanks for the visual!
Good work detective. What a bargain! How about the train fares?
Obligatory how much did it cost, for the English getting reamed.
In England we pay a private, profit-making water company either a flat fee (depending on area and size of home), or we have a water meter. Flat fee is usually cheaper but still expensive.
They’re also responsible for water run off and sewage - our rivers and beaches are regularly a health hazard due to sewage being dumped, due to old inadequate infrastructure. You can search ‘surfers against sewage’, there’s a live map. There’s very little outdoor/wild swimming in england despite our many watercourses, lakes and of course the sea. Its either illegal, they’re unsanitary or both. The water companies still make lots of profit though!!
On top of that we pay council tax. Whole thing probably costs a minimum of £2000 per year and has to be paid even if you’re earning minimum wage, take home pay for full time work for over 21 year olds = £22,000. Less for younger people. Assuming you can find full time work and not just a zero hours contract.
Scotland is a socialist paradise compared to england.
So is Spotify.
Too bad you’re adding to the plastic in your brain with every meat consumption. Idk about ‘only’ but he looks like he’s made of McD trash and he eats it everyday apparently.
MacDonald’s sell steak?
Now the rich and middle classes will overthrow him.
No idea, sorry. I’m using voyager.
I love the setting here where you can see your running total of down/up votes. I down voted that guy 15 times already. If they’re really annoying I make a tag too.
Lets kill reddit
I have no idea. I’ve wondered about buying those prepaid MasterCards for things where a card is needed. It’s kind of like you need to think like someone doing fraud just to opt out of a financial norms that you don’t agree with. People are already weirded out by someone paying cash here.
So is cash the only non-US option? Even my current account uses visa debit.
Good to know. I’m using voyager and I can see my total upvote/downvote count for users as well as make personal tags for users, which makes it easy to ID the trolls
