3·1 day agoCapitalism doesn’t require that all life be maintained, only just enough. If capitalism doesn’t need you, then your wages can absolutely go lower.
And then tortured the people they kidnapped, yes.

Socialism@lemmy.ml•question on gaza (reposted and reedited!)
2·2 days agoThis isn’t a substitute for reading theory, but some podcasts that might help with some of the basics in a more entertaining format include: Citations Needed, Red Menace, and The Deprogram.
Here’s a selection of episodes that might help on Palestine & not both-sidesing genocide in particular, though I haven’t listened to any of these recently:
Citations Needed:
- Episode 28: The Asymptotic ‘Two State Solution’ (Part I)
- Episode 29: The Asymptotic ‘Two State Solution’ (Part II)
- Ep 207: US-Backed Killing of Journalists in Gaza and the Limits of “Freedom of the Press” Sloganeering
- Episode 212: Gaza and the Political Utility of Selective Empathy
- Episode 214: Fake Ceasefire Talks and Feigned ‘Concern’ - How US Media Helped Distance Biden From the Gaza Genocide
- Ep 226: The Importance of ‘Seriousness,’ or Why Palestinians Can’t Be Witness to Their Own Genocide (Part I)
- Ep 227: The Importance of ‘Seriousness,’ or Why Palestinians Can’t Be Witness to Their Own Genocide (Part II)
- Ep 230 - How To Oppose Genocide Without Opposing Genocide (Part 1): Biden World’s Reputation Laundering PR Tour
- Ep 231 - How To Oppose Genocide Without Opposing Genocide (Part 2): AIPAC Dems’ Fake Israel Criticisms
Red Menace:
- Understanding Settler Colonialism in Israel and the United States
- Decolonizing Palestine: Toward National Liberation in the Levant
The Deprogram (I haven’t listened to these two yet, but am assuming they’re decent):
I was looking for a decent cry/sob emoji and felt like I had used
and
too recently, and so I landed on that one.Not sure about the original, but the code I used for it was:

Since you seem hung up on there being Jewish people in Israel who are NOT part of the Zionist project, I’ll provide an actual example of one, though they aren’t there any more (thankfully). David Adler spent 5 days in a prison complex in the Negev after Israel raided a flotilla trying to deliver aid to Gaza.

6·2 days agolmao, great job pretending you’re no longer “both sides-ing” a genocide. There are plenty of settlers in Gaza. Israel protects them from getting “pushed around” already.
Yeah

If they don’t support Israel, why are they in Gaza?
It’s pretty hard to be optimistic about being genocided. The Jewish people in Gaza are settlers part of the Zionist project to eradicate Palestinians.
Dang, I was hoping for more recent news than I found

News@lemmy.world•Former Clovis mom facing up to 5 years for plot to send teen to Christian school
24·3 days agoI was hoping this was in some way related to legislation against the “troubled teen industry” but the real cause is that there was a violation of a restraining order:
Gaviola’s son […] obtained a domestic violence protection order against his mother. […] that order was violated when two employees of Sandoval’s agency, a transportation company that delivered minors to the boarding school, picked him up at a skating rink in Fresno.
i’m looking at you, hexbear!
Don’t worry, your posts no longer federate to hexbear thanks in part due to questions like this which seem to imply that Palestine is in some way not handling (or won’t handle) being genocided by a settler colonial ethnostate in an appropriate manner. The United States’ support for Israel has not been materially changed by the so-called cease fire that is continually being violated by Israel.

3·3 days agoBut is it sugary?
Is salt very sour? Very savory? Which one is a better antonym for sweet? What about an antonym for sugary?

No, they apparently went through with it.
