yet, wearing a band shirt implicates interest. imagine talking to sb using that as a lead and them being clueless. At least have a story why you’d wear a bands shirt you dont know (its my brothers etc.)

I would accidently pack a slipknot shirt of my (rather big-boned) classmate after sport. My mother washed the clothes and would wear it in the garden as it would fit nobody else. I had no idea and never told her but seing her gardening even years after my graduation in a slipknot shirt was hilarious.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Mexico cuts workweek, bans after-hours contact, and guarantees no worker will take a pay cut in the most sweeping labor reform in a generationEnglish
13·2 days agoGermany has 48 hours but this is a maximum by law. Normally contracts are 35-40. Yet this news is important as germany’s chancellor seeks to increase those times and calls everyone lazy while even mexico cares more about their workers.

1092·2 days agoHad an interview at a company. They asked me to do a coding challenge. Solve it without AI. The task was written in AI and requirements all over the place. Took me 6hrs+. I sent it and they wanted to see me in person. Took half a day off to make to the interview. Meeting went well. They call me and tell me my assignment was not what they expected.
There should be a hefty fine for this behavoiur.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•If AI Causes a Mass Unemployment Crisis, Will the Public Explode Into Violence?English
1·2 days agoYou really only need to replace 10% of jobs. There are talks of replacing software devs with AI. And developing is one of the more complex tasks in office environment. Imagine 10% of the country rioting. Thats suddendly millions of people. You dont have sufficient police or prisons to handle that.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•If AI Causes a Mass Unemployment Crisis, Will the Public Explode Into Violence?English
5·2 days agoThere’s a conflict index which predicts conflicts based on whether the population is able to feed, house themselves, find a spouse (think cultures with multiple wives) or find a job. In short, civil war is 3 missed meals away. This is espacially dangerous with this new generation not being able to provide for children. Nothing to lose.

Europe@feddit.org•What are Europe's alternatives to Instagram, TikTok and X?English
20·2 days agoSocial media lives from its userbase. The article continues to mention one or more apps per country. This divides the userbase and makes the apps pointless. Meanwhile european politicians continue to post on X.
Reminds me of the ole joke when 3 left wingers meet they form 4 new splinter parties.
I mean it’s a choice. I know ppl who refuse to work and collect wellfare because they’ll be poor either way.
What is “the west” meaning nowadays anyway? US threatens to invade Europe and is closer to russia than NATO. They are barely allies anymore.

27·2 days agoSimilar story with Tesla’s Berlin factory. Musk even said look look everywhere is water hurr durr. Politicians folded like teen girl fans meeting their kpop idol. Fast forward factory operates and household’s waterconsumption in the far area is rationed. Turns out you cant take just all the water you see without damaging the ecology.

5·3 days agoOn global level population is still growing. With globalization, companies couldnt care less if a worker is from US or Africa. ChatGPT’s training was supervised by kenia workers for laughable wages.

Work Reform@lemmy.world•Why exactly are nursing aids paid so poorly?English
6·3 days agoWHO guidelines say children should stay with mother until 3 to bond and go to childcare from 3 to get social skills. But germany only pays up for like 1 yr and even that only limited. Grandparents have to work until they are barely fit enough to help too.
Makes you wonder, with all those technical advances we have, why we work more and more having worse living conditions down the drain.
Dont worry, as parents you wouldn’t (want) to see action either. You get up, handle your offspring, go to work, gethome to just handle the offspring again. Depending if they had mid-day sleep you may be allowed to do chores starting 19-23pm. Actually working is more relaxing than being 100% of the time on adrenaline because your toddler tries to hurt themselves all the time. You just lack energy for romance. Trying for a second is a chore.
The kind of ecological terrorism I approve

Back then, you’d find usable info on the web. Now everything is buried under centuries worth of AI slop read. Plus it was more accepted to have blind spots on your knowledge. Now everyone using AI raises some bars and the only sucker not using AI gets a worse grade.
