  • I have an old account I am locked out of due to 2FA I don’t have access to. I really want to get rid of that account, due to its content, which is publicly available for anyone to see. But alas, 'tis not possible. MFers running the forum won’t answer my emails, whether I request sensibly and professionally for help, or threaten them with GDPR. Or act like I want my account back for use. GDPR people also haven’t been very helpful (I’ve gone as far as providing evidence of contact. Have once heard “They 'Murican. Not EU. \shrugs”). Having cleaned out old, unused accounts, finding said account is easy due to a lack of other stuff to fill up search results, and having used a common username of mine for it was also dumb of me. I dream of the day said account is gone, for my peace of mind. But alas, at least half a decade trying. And it got me nowhere

  • My news comes mainly from Lemmy, Wikipedia, sometimes Wikinews, maybe other people, and short daily podcasts. The fun radio podcasts are currently on break (though they’re less ‘news’, more current topics made funny), but I sometimes also listen to a short daily news podcast.

Lemmy is by far the worst source, because 'Murican-centrism. So much US spam. If I could easily filter out the US off Lemmy, I’d do it in a jiffy. I’d even be willing to cut off English entirely. Or leave Lemmy, touch grass. The latter seems to be the most likely option, from what I know of Lemmy.

With Wikipedia, and Wikinews, I append a relevant language code to the url, like xx.wikipedia.org, and get stuff in my language, less 'Murican. I sometimes do that in other languages I know (including English).

Podcasts are relevant by location and/or language, depending on the podcast (they sometimes bring up US stuff, but that’s far less annoying than Lemmy’s spam, and sometimes actually relevant (for the news one, at least))

  • I wonder why ‘Latina’ wouldn’t include other countries with Latin-based languages. Why not Spain Latina? Portugal Latina? France, Italy. Romania Latina. Also, the small countries in South America that don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese (French-Guiana? Maybe others).

I guess Latina/o/e means Latin-American (no, not that type of ‘American’)
