  • I’ve had both DDG(Bing) and Google give me “no results found” for a query I know with 100% certainty worked a few years ago.

Started with a few words in a row in quotation marks, and it just goes nope. Then you add a bunch of related keywords and suddenly it can find it just fine. And will even highlight the phrase you had in quotation marks, the one it claimed had zero results. Because it no longer uses your words to actually search through web page contents, it puts your query into an LLM and uses that to filter and lookup things.

  • She’s terrible, but more normal than McCain.

The main thing is that she would have avoided national scrutiny and pushes for ethics investigations, if she just stayed in Alaska. She was the first woman and the youngest governor of Alaska and early on she had around 90% popularity among voters there.

Then she saw dollar signs and hitched her ride to the far right, and has been laughed out of Alaskan elections ever since, and ended up doing Fox shows and failing to sue the press for defamation.

Your cats choose to listen to you.

Anyone who’s had cats for a long time notice how they are basically like teenagers; They love you and hear you(and have scientifically been shown to reckognize their names, and ignore them), but they like to be alone and ignore you a lot of the time unless they want something. But they will also come running and show affection if they’re the mood for that.

There are some who are more attached and more likely to come running, but generally they’re just a bit independent.

I know it’s slightly more than 400 years, but: Science, aka. heresy in those days.

Giordano Bruno, born Filippo Bruno; January or February 1548 – 17 February 1600)

He proposed that the stars were distant suns surrounded by their own planets (exoplanets), and he raised the possibility that these planets might foster life of their own, a cosmological position known as cosmic pluralism. He also insisted that the universe is infinite and could have no center.

Bruno was tried for heresy by the Roman Inquisition on charges of denial of several core Catholic doctrines, including eternal damnation, the Trinity, the divinity of Christ, the virginity of Mary, and transubstantiation.

According to the customs and border protection website, there is a max limit of $200 that is free from duty and tax if you’ve spent at least 48 hours there, and it has to be for personal/household use. There are amount limits on alcohol and tobacco.

But if it’s something like a single phone, you pay in cash and open it there and dispose of the packing material. You could get away with violating those restrictions, but at your own risk.

Side-note: The limit is $800 if you go to the Caribbean, and up to $1600 for places like US Virgin Islands
