Integrating AI where it’s most meaningful, with craft and focus:
apparently they’re not listening to shit. Fuck off with your AI bullshit.
More taskbar customization, including vertical and top positions: Repositioning the taskbar is one of the top asks we’ve heard from you. We are introducing the ability to reposition it to the top or sides of your screen, making it easier to personalize your workspace.
You didn’t introduce shit. It was a feature all the way up to Windows 10 and then you removed it. Go fuck yourselves.
Wouldn’t it be nice if this was actually a heartfelt message from a developer instead of damage control? Wouldn’t it be nice if a large corporation had some self awareness for one goddamn second?
This list of bullshit features does zilch to address users complaints about software quality. They are truly clueless.
So they saw the numbers, got scared and are starting to take action. Good for them, but too late. I’ve tasted the freedom that is Linux and I don’t see how I could ever go back.
I have only used Linux for about 3 years by now and when something bothers me and I can’t fix it I consider changing the distro but would never go back to windows because it is just soo much worse
The problem with Microsoft is that they don’t know why people use Windows anymore and think they are popular enough to make big changes while keeping people excited. But they aren’t popular. They are simply used out of convenience and their ideas are so antithetical to their users it is driving them to find alternatives.
Bingo!
As someone basically stuck using this shit (well, it’s healthcare so we’re still half stuck on 10 LTSC to be fair), I’m glad to see them talking about less obnoxious defaults!
I used to do a lot of default config and was pissed that defender blocked the user -based regkeys for disabling their shitty stock ticker widget, for example. Touching notepad was also a travesty.
Quality shitpost
More taskbar customization, including vertical and top positions
I used to do this when I was a kid. So they took the feature away, and are now bringing it back while patting themselves on the back
It was a thing in 10 iirc but it was removed in 11
Just LOL

The fucking irony talking about quality improvement while simultaneously being written in shitty AI slop format
Yeah, I’m still not going back. Even if they upheld every bullet point in that post it wouldn’t make me go back.
What a funny joke. Excellent community for this.
Yep, I mean, we should have seen it coming in a way…
Its laughable howuch they’re huffing their own supply, however - thinking windows is one of the most used technologies (what, after radio, eftpos and whatnot! Theyre so fucking proud its revolting…)
As to whether the shareholders will allow them to claw back these AI hooks, who knows? I for one, doubt it. Hard…
thinking windows is one of the most used technologies
I genuinely is, though. But it’s because they are a near-monopolist, a position they got because of anticompetitive (i.e. illegal) practices. Not because people like their tech so much.
Good luck to them, I guess.
The fact that the summary of intended changes listed below the statement seems to be directly copied out of Copilot says all it needs to say, IMO.
More focused user experience with less distractions: Making the Windows experience quieter, to help you stay focused, minimize distractions and stay in your flow.
Yea I ain’t reading all that. Here is the locally generated slop summary.
Windows is committed to improving quality based on user feedback. Initial changes include repositioning the taskbar, integrating AI more meaningfully, reducing update disruptions, and improving File Explorer performance. The broader plan focuses on performance, reliability, and well-crafted experiences, with improvements to system performance, app responsiveness, and Windows Hello authentication.
So basically microslop promises to unslop their shid. Uh huh.
