I was going to say. It still works. They just couldn’t find a customer willing to pay the high price at the moment. Someone will make another model to do what it did.

I suspect the current government just didn’t want the plebs to have access and put Pentagon Pete in more videos and it was a small price to pay for open AI to make them happy and make sure they are the only ones who get to make shitty AI tiktok slop.

I actually do not think it has much to do with that. I would guess it just did not make any money or the ongoing costs were too much.

I used Sora to quickly develop a video for a skit or to see if something can be done via AI.

I used Sora as an outlet for my creativity. Now we have Veo and Meta

That’s… that’s not creativity though. You just typed a prompt, not made the thing yourself. It’s the polar opposite of being creative, you outsourced the joy of being creative to a machine that doesn’t understand what creativity even is.

All of the joy of being creative comes not just from the initial spark, but from the entire process. The fun and joy I get when I draw my pixel art comes from the whole experience. Not from the idea that I started with. The challenges and obstacles add to the experience, cutting them out makes it a hollow, meaningless thing.

All for what? Some instant gratification that you get because it can spit out some slop quickly? Slop that you will instantly forget about since you had no real role in its creation? People like you make a mockery of art and the creative process.

Have you made a song or a video using AI before?

I’ve used local ai audio/video generation as a similar creative outlet. It’s really fun to mess around with.

Don’t worry about the haters. Those people would claim that a director of a movie isn’t doing any “creative” work, because the director just “prompts” the actors to give a good performance. Not to mention making a bunch of creative decisions about the script, dialog, shot composition, set design, color grading, music, sound design, editing, etc.
