Great! So we can stop increasing the military budget now right?
Those who beat their swords into ploughshares will plough for those who didn’t.
I’m not exactly happy either as any military spending is a terrible misallocation of resources when our greatest threat isn’t the Russian or Chinese. It’s having exceeded our Planetary Boundaries.. Our military crisis is secondary to our ecological crisis. The rules based order and global trade was one of the better ways to fight these problems.
But let’s not pretend that we, as Canadians aren’t directly threatened as are our real NATO allies. These costs are very reasonable under the circumstances.
Hopefully this helps in our trade talks with the US.
