Who is dumb enough to post shit like this

The joke is so far above your head that it is orbiting above you at an altitude of approximately 400 kilometers (about 250 miles) and travels at a speed of around 28,800 kilometers per hour (17,500 miles per hour), completing an orbit roughly every 92 minutes.

Got pretty offended I called your post “dumb”, huh?

Sure, yeah, this has tooootally gone over my head, because the joke is just soooooooooo intellectual and cryptic.

Not offended, not all jokes are for all folks. It’s not a terribly deep joke, which does make the apparent lack of understanding it a bit worse. You should play Deus Ex, it’s a good game.

Again with the “apparent lack of understanding”.

Don’t you realise how hilarious it is to pretend someone can’t “get” your “joke”?

It’s not exactly rocket fucking science.

If 90% of games being brand new was the standard, we would need a horrifying amount of games every year and by now there’d prob be more games required than humans to make them

I dont think its meant as “90% of games that exist came out this year” and more of “90% of games that came out this year are not part of a preexisting series”. Its more a statement on final fantasy 27, fifa 2041 and call of duty ancient space warfare

They’re saying that if 90% of all games that exist were new each year, the number of games that would have to release each year to achieve it would be exponentially increasing and therefore unsustainable. The facts are simple math.

You missed the joke. That was a quote from Deus Ex, the game depicted in the screenshot. 🙂

You’re right, I did! In my defense, it’s been 20+ years since I’ve played it. Maybe I should change that.

The ‘Revision’ is a good mod for a modern resolution and some other stuff. Free on Steam for those who bought the game itself, although ironically it didn’t work with that version for me, but worked with a pirated one.

Personally I disabled all the map modifications. But the original game scripts have some bugs that ‘Revision’ can fix.

If you have a beefy PC, check out Surreal 98! The end goal is to have VR support for UE1 games like Deus Ex or Unreal Tournament. It’s still in early access and will be for some time, but it’s already looking pretty good.

also it’s easy to experiment with an early art medium

but once you figure out the good methods it takes way more time to perfect them & more resources to use them

you can see that perfectly mimicked within the bubble of minecraft building styles - people built entire villages overnight because all it took for them to be considered good was decent symmetry and style cohesion

nowadays if you want your minecraft build to be considered good - best arm yourself in patience as step one is catching up on all the building techniques created in the last 15 years. and once you know colour theory by heart, and can make a gradient in the blink of an eye you can probably make something people would look at and say “neat”

At least Steam mandates AI disclosure so I can just ignore them all.

And if that fails, I can just limit myself to games developed before GenAI and still easily have enough peak games to last several lifetimes, even if I do nothing but play games.

2010 seems to have the same level of new games as we do now, if the same metrics of “indie vs AAA” are used

Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed, FIFA, NBA, the entire brown and grey period of the 360 era.

I assure you it has always been sloppy.
