Hey guess what it’s not the 1950’s anymore, people don’t just run out and buy something because it’s new, and especially when it’s full of artificial crap like Dorito’s. These companies have been taking advantage of us for decades by selling us trash food at increasingly crazy prices, they can all rot. Learn to cook and do without garbage snacks and products like this.

    At some point, consumers react.

This year here, it was chocolate easter bunnies from Lindt, a more expensive, but quality brand. Their 200g bunny was priced at a whooping 7.99€ (the other sizes had similarly excessive prices) before easter, and they completely failed to sell. As in: from a full euro pallet display, only one or two bunnies were sold.

They are 50% off since easter, and about 10-15 have been sold this last week at the local supermarket. Out of hundreds on the display. Other locations show similar sales.

Looks like this is going to hurt. I don’t expect them to sell for 50% any time soon.

there are better healthier brands out there, that have similar taste. and much cheaper. even some slightly more “healthier” brands are cheaper, that are not from the mainstream ones.

It just really fucking sucks for people like me in food deserts where the options are either a dollar general with an incredibly limited selection or half our drive into the nearest town for Walmart.

It also sucks extra for me cause original Doritos and jalapeno cheddar dip is one of my autistic comfort foods. I’ve yet to find a suitable replacement for either.

The higher the price, the more likely it gets deleted from my diet forever.

A big bag of doritos should be no more than $1.99.

Because store brand is a dollar.

Their MBA-filled clueless management team did this to themselves, and will be rewarded anyway.

I’m in a LCOL area, but a smallish bag of Fritos is now $6 and a bag of Doritos is indeed $7. It’s a “party size” bag which looks about like the regular bag from my youth. But I never see any “regular” bags anymore, just the expensive party size.

I do love the Chili flavored Fritos so once in a blue moon I will get those. And maybe once a year I’ll buy a bag of Doritos, especially when they bring Taco flavor back. Otherwise I tend to skip the chip aisle entirely now.
