Somewhat related, I recently was reading an academic work on street life in Pompeii, and the word ‘roasted’ was used in the modern, slang meaning of the term, and I had to stop a moment and consider what a bizarre timeline I live in.

“definitely had Zenobia on his to-do list”

I don’t know if its that I don’t vibe with modern slang, or that it just feels disrespectful to have such niche cultural verbage in a paper, but I don’t like it.

You know what, I’m going to take your positive outlook and adopt it. I don’t know whether its just a consequence of getting older, or bombardment with constant propaganda, but I’m starting to have strong opinions on stuff that truly just doesn’t matter at all.

Its their paper, they can do what they want.
