When the show continues, it’s definitely not going to pick up from the Disney season numbering, and for another soft reboot they may want to start at 1 again.
So going by season ones, it’ll be "New New New Who”.
Some sticklers might want to go by showrunners instead of formal seasons, which would make it “New New New New New Who”. (I’m starting at 2005 for this because the show didn’t have showrunners as such before that).
But of course, you could argue every (numbered) Doctor is a fresh start, so it was really “New Who” ever since Troughton. This would make the next series “New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New Who”.
Anybody up for a “New Earth” rewatch party?
I’ve long advocated for numbering according to Doctor.
An Unearthly Child is D01S01E01, Pyramids of Mars is D04S02E09-12, the movie is D08S01E01, the Christmas Invasion is D10S01E00, Time of the Doctor is D11S03E15, The Story & The Engine is D15S02E05. This is perfect and has no inconsistencies or ambiguities whatsoever anywhere at all and totally wouldn’t fall apart if we finally got more Fugitive Doctor.
Probably controversial because it would maintain the Disney season numbering 🙂
I don’t follow? There’s no reference to Disney anywhere, I start counting at the first Doctor, the season number resets with each Doctor.
No, but a segment of fans were irked that the official season numbering was reset in 2024… There are people who want all of the show numbered consecutively since 1963… You know we can’t have nice things, that’s all I’m saying
But starting in 1963 is exactly what I’m doing with D01, no? D15S01 happens to be the same as RTD2’s S01 but that’s because it started with a new Doctor.
Amusingly(?), if we were to bring back the Retrospective Discussions, “New Earth” would be the second episode up.
It’s a sign 😅 I’m there for the cat nurses and Cassandra, her tragic clone and Face of Boe. Less so for Rose making googly eyes at Suddenly Hot(?) Doctor, but such is season 2…
“nᵉʷ Who”?
