Once the guardian of the bipartisan pro-Israel consensus, it is now a polarizing force in the party.

June 12, 2026, 5:01 a.m. ET

When Brad Lander opened his Democratic primary bid for New York’s 10th Congressional District late last year, he made a promise that would once have meant political suicide: He would not do “AIPAC’s bidding” in Washington.

Now the June 23 primary is almost here, and AIPAC has been a recurring theme throughout the campaign. A progressive Jew and self-described liberal Zionist, Lander challenged his opponent, the pro-Israel incumbent Dan Goldman, to take a “people’s pledge” to limit money from super PACs. He has sent a steady stream of text and email blasts comparing AIPAC with Wall Street and crypto — a new, unholy trinity of corrupting influences in democratic politics.

    NOT FAST ENOUGH

And for so many dead, injured, displaced, missing, and more: too little too late, but better than never. Now what are they prepared to do to repair the harm they have allowed and facilitated?

Lobbying organizations for foreign powers should be registered as the foreign agents that they are, and banned from endorsing or in any way supporting US political campaigns, or operating or even coordinating with PACs.

        No

        Edit to add information:

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIPAC

Former Senator William Fulbright, in the 1970s, and former senior CIA official Victor Marchetti, in the 1980s, contended that AIPAC should have registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).[128] FARA requires those who receive funds or act on behalf of a foreign government to register as a foreign agent. However, AIPAC states that the organization is a registered American lobbying group, funded by private donations, and maintains it receives “no financial assistance” from Israel or any other foreign group.[143]

I mean, I guess that’s probably true here.

US American Zionists fund Israel, not the other way around. Their country isn’t economically viable without US support

If there’s any money flowing from Israel to AIPAC, it’s most likely US taxpayers money that was given to Israel, and then donated back to AIPAC…

That is exactly how the money is funneled from us, laundered through Israeli aid, and recycled into AIPAC funding.

A self–described Zionist turning down AIPAC money seems like he was going to do what they want, anyway, and just wants AIPAC to spend their money on candidates who need to be bought.

Not just any Zionist, a “liberal Zionist”. That means they believe Israel has the right to kill and steal Palestinian land but they need to hide it better like before.

I have to admit to vastly underestimating how deeply Israel is dug into our government. Kinda got that foreign money was a big problem, but this is next level.

Israel doesn’t give us money. The US gives them money.

Then they spend our money on the US military industrial complex

Yeah I didn’t realize how bad it was until this last year.

They basically control 90% of the seats in Congress and house.

Not to mention governors. Mayors. State prosecutors. Judges.

      It’s insane.

And to say things like Israel runs our government and runs our media is supposedly anti Semitic.

So you think those donations come from women or progressive organizations or something.

    Nope. It’s aipac.

    Slimy fuckers aren’t they ?

Foreign interference affecting individual US politicians, and especially allowing foreign money to influence US elections, is the number one thing I think needs to change about the American government. More important even than stopping the MAGA movement.

I would support a constitutional amendment that categorizes politicians accepting money from groups like AIPAC as treason.

Mexico just made it so anyone getting political money from foreigners is removed from office and can’t win an election.

It just sounds like common sense. And yet. It’s not the standard.

They may be turning specifically on AIPAC, but they will gladly still be taking J St money. They’ll just call it something different and nothing will change.
