I used to think on my own, obviously we can’t do that anymore either.

“The world is getting worse. Accept the loss.” is a hot take for someone who is actively pushing the cause of this worsening and profitting off it.

Ah yes the famous carless days of 1969 where we built paved streets for children to play in that then somehow got taken over by that damn newfangled invention. And right after we destroyed all those black neighborhoods for highways! The one for the kids to play up high on!

Edit: point being, like cars, AI can fuck itself. We never should’ve built cities and fucked the country for cars and we shouldn’t fuck up the country more for AI.

Double edit: didn’t even notice the community this was posted in lol probably didn’t need to add that edit in then but whatever.

we shouldn’t fuck up the country more for AI.

or environment, or water supply, or power supply, or children’s privacy, or people’s brains, or economy…

I still have yet to see anything from these fucks that justifies the cost in computer hardware either.

“If you’re not first, you’re last” -Ricky Bobby

And that’s the entire philosophy of AI investment. This is surely the next industrial revolution, so we need to be first so we win. Cause that’s how you win capitalism.

Never mind that the entire industry is facing the dead-end where all of the data of humanity has already been hoovered up and we’re still not at that damn singularity, and we kind of have no plan on where to go from here. All of that is pointless details. Someone’s going to figure it out, and if we spend the most money it’ll surely be us.

I played in the streets, with the cars which were plentiful, and simply learned to not be a complete idiot and get killed. I am but a man, and these CEOs with their sunk costs cannot sway me. End this digital snake oil trend, reclaim the assets, and jail the perpetrators; then we’ll all get back to playing in the streets like normal folk.

or you could, you know, make the streets once again safe for kids to play on? perhaps by rolling back some of this car centric shit?

I am definitely for this too, walkable streets build community. I wanna say one step at a time, but really would can do both of these things at once with the right political will and politicians that actually serve the public rather than themselves and their private sector pals.

That’s one thing that’s been striking about the executive AI cheerleading, they keep coming up with simply the worst scenarios thinking they are describing something good.

It’s like they are all out of touch sociopaths that can’t understand normal human experience or something…

Whelp, when the stonk tanks to “affordable” for their failures, and they dump the AI clowns, I’ll grab a bunch of it like it’s the $5 PS2 games bin in 2010, and maybe I’ll get a nice windfall when they start making GPUs for the people again. :D

        …A man can dream.

It will be in a gated compound, with it’s own security. Then each house/mansion will be gated, with it’s own cameras and security. “Fun” !

Society has a choice. I worry that people’s general meekness might make them bend the knee once again, though.
