Well, we consider the US a horrible country for quite a while already.
Even worse: 30 years for touching zines
50 years for being in the group chat that discussed attending the protest, but not actually attending. Note, there was no discussion of shooting a cop in these group chats. The two people I’m talking about are trans women though.
So I guess 50 years of rape in a male prison, for being in the chat while trans.
Anyone who thinks the U.S. legal system has anything to do with justice is living in a fantasy world.
It has long been broken beyond repair, and now it is being used in a particularly unscrupulous manner by a fascist regime—not merely to get away with the most serious crimes, but to make them possible in the first place.
As a result, conditions are becoming more and more like those in Russia, China, Israel, or North Korea—and, to be honest, they hardly differ anymore: The U.S. is definitely a state where injustice reigns.
Edit: The Lego scandal videos by Reckless Ben, for example, illustrate this point very well—albeit on a much smaller scale—if, given all the corruption and the fact that the regime is still in power rather than locked up in prison, any other examples are even needed.
Might as well add japan to that list. They can hold you without reason in jail for 21 days then restart those 21 days infinitely. Also, prison and death sentence is brutal. Calling the police frequently results in you becoming the criminal in their eyes.
Context for non-Americans, please?
Trump paid one of his goons $14 million to paint the bottom of the Washington Monument’s reflecting pool a dark blue color. The guy’s company did a shitty job leaving globs of paint barely sticking to the concrete. The pool was then refilled with swamp water which caused an algae bloom turning it green. The Orange Fuhrer then ordered to fill the pool with hydrogen peroxide and bleach in an effort to kill the bloom which only sped up the detachment of the paint as giant floating chips.
The cops in the area were ordered to arrest anyone who comes by to even so much as pluck one of those chips. Dictators have a very strict way of dealing with anyone who hurts their feelings.
That is absolutely crazy. You guys have to do something about this. I am expecting the US revolution to get going any day now!
Thanks for the recap! I would love to have a chip of the paint as a souvenier!
Not a yank but I know the details.
The American kid is Otto Warmbier. Tragic case, he stole a North Korean poster, and was arrested. Eventually released to the states in a vegative state, and succumbing to his injuries at 21.
The paint chips refer to people being charged with felonies due to removing debris from the reflecting pool. Still early days yet, so no deaths in custody related to it afaik.
