The meeting aims to explore and deconstruct some stereotypes. Reflection develops around three cases illustrating the complexity of gender and religion in the contemporary context: the religious experiences of young adults in Italy and the different meanings that religion assumes in the construction of individual and collective subjectivity; the role of digital technologies and environments in contemporary religious practices and experiences; the relationship between feminism and religion and the theme of religious feminism. Through the discussion, the importance of a gender approach and an intersectional perspective in the interpretation of religious experience will be highlighted, and the implications for scientific, public and political discourse will be explained.
I dont think this is a bad idea. I consider myself Muslim but I also dont like pushing my beliefs on other people, im chill with feminism / communism etc as i live in a secular country in the west.
Some leftists are against the idea of leftiss claiming religion as they feel that its a lost cause, or its just providing cover for extremists or smt. I disagree with that mindset because I think all that does is cede ground to extremist religious types. Religion can be a useful mechanism for liberation (see catholic liberation theology). There is no set official objective religious doctrine, it is always open to interpretation. I think it is a net positive to see religion uplift women.
