    Saw it last night and I think it’s sitting just below the Evil Dead remake for me in a ranking of the three newer films, but that comes with a pretty tremendous caveat regarding the central thematic conceit they chose to underpin the story. That, and I’m against any pet murder, so two pretty big caveats, which makes weird that I otherwise pretty much had a ball.

    I saw it yesterday and I loved it. Of the modern Evil Dead movies, I think it ranks in last place though. The 2013 movie was excellent and felt a lot like the original movie. Rise felt liked a darker, gorier Evil Dead 2. Burn felt the least like an Evil Dead movie overall. It had incredible camera work and the kills were so brutal and satisfying, but very little that felt like it was part of the same series. Easily the second best horror movie I’ve seen this year, just not the best Evil Dead. I still highly recommend seeing it.
