German car manufacturers and with them the whole german industrial sector, focused on short term revenue in the Chinese market while ignoring that they were giving away the knowhow to a future competitor and that the chinese market is tightly controlled by the Chinese state. Now they’re wondering why China is able to outcompete them globally and why they are losing market shares.
