TL: DR “We’re neutral”
They’ll just become a nazi-bar
Yup. I wouldn’t have hated it if they said they can’t discriminate against customers as that’d require some surveillance and go counter to the project, but to still condemn nazis because it’s appalling. But refusing to condemn nazis in the name of privacy is absurd. Do they think if nazis get in power they’ll look back at this and let us have privacy?
More cynically they probably believe this is a market and as a business they need to increase their profits even if it means, as you said, becoming a nazi bar. But whether they see it or not, they’re encouraging political forces that seek to destroy their whole business, so even cynically they should oppose this.
The guy did directly fund the aforementioned Nazis…
It’s a direct invitation
I don’t disagree with the position of the company as outlined in this statement and their neutral position. But by being a customer of the company I would also be paying the co-founder with his weird views that are definitely not neutral, and that is still worth avoiding. And maybe his individual opinions are actually more representative of the companies values because they aren’t filtered through a PR team. As long as they are not the only good VPN provider, I don’t want to support this.
No, no, no… Have you not gotten the most recent zeitgeist firmware update?
