Every news article about Flock cameras seems deliberately incorrect. They are not LPR cameras, they are full-on video security cameras, combined with server-based AI to search for/recognize objects, people, animals, activities, etc. They do not just store vehicle and/or license plate information.

The latest ones are also fingerprinting Bluetooth and other wireless devices as they walk/drive by. So it can actually attach a device to a face in the right circumstances.

Fun fact, if you do this with bank deposits in an amount just below an IRS reporting threshold it immediately flags your account.

It’s happening all over the country. Same playbook. Give each PD/municipality bespoke contracts so they avoid town council approval. Flocks are being installed without the town council even knowing about it in some cases.

This should put him under immediate leave and review/audit, because this surely isn’t the first time. Doesn’t get his job back, if at all, until everything he pulled this shit with goes through the proper approval processes he bypassed, resulting in approval. Otherwise he’s out. Next time he does this he’s just out, even if he somehow “won” the deep review and audit of his entire career.
