Holy shit why are these nuts so terrible?

They came from my friendly neighborhood Costco. We get them every year for my FIL because he loves them, but I had never bought a bag for me. They are apparently not for me…

I find the older darker ones are nasty like that. I stopped buying macadamias from the warehouse type stores because it seemed like I kept getting old nasty macadamias.

Good macadamias are very lightly colored, almost white, turn creamy when chewed, and taste extremely savory and delicious.

I’m sorry you got shitty macadamias. If you ever want to try them again get brand name macadamias from a busy grocery store that turns over their inventory fast. Don’t even bother with the industrial size tub from BJ’s/Costco/Sam’s.

I had a similar experience. I never like macadamia nuts until I tried some when I was in Hawaii, it was a revelation that I learned macadamia nuts could be good, especially the chocolate covered ones.

Why do you know what the inside of a drawer in a jewelry box you found in your deceased grandmother’s closet tastes like?

Maybe it’s like a cilantro thing for you?

They’re the most delicious nut. And, it’s not even close.

My unpopular nut opinion is walnuts. Can’t stand them.

Idk I’m learning to like cilantro, but every time I have a macadamia nut from the bag I got at Costco it tastes like a closet from the 80s.

I think he means that cilantro is an actual genetic matter. Some people can eat it, and some people taste literal soap water. Cant be changed or get accustomed to, genetics say this weed here tastes like chemical cleaning agent. Enjoy.

    I don’t get that.

To me they taste kinda… blandly oily/waxy. Not an offensive flavor but definitely not my favorite nut.

I guess I don’t get that flavor experience from them. Subtle flavor, good texture. They’re great as an add on like in cookies.

I used to love the white chocolate macadamia cookies from subway, but I thought my subway had really old ones and they tasted stale. Now I think it was just the flavor of the nut.
