What violence and why issues with the government?
Guadamalan gang violence - the reason why he was applying for asylum - and (I’d say) both governments.
And the government is in with the gangs in countries like Guatemala.
It’s just so fucked up majority of the country thinks these people are lying. I used to work in immigration law, it’s a lot of time money and sheer effort people have to put in to get asylum/refugee status. They’re not making it up, they’re fleeing these countries like Guatemala and coming here because they get real death threats, for refusing to join gangs and/or bribe local officials.
It’s not a joke, it’s not a scam, and we are sending these people home to get murdered.
