Ya know what. He’s got a point. Let’s not listen to 16 year olds about global policy. That should be the realm of scientists and data.

Wait. What’s that? The scientists are saying the same thing, that we’ve fucked the planet like Trump fucked kids and we need to start addressing things fifty years ago? Oh, uh, but my teen pageant show :(

They need a scapegoat/strawman to excuse their need to rape children. I can’t wait to go open season on these pedophiles and their protectors

1 in 4 girls experience sexual assault before age 18, 1 in 6 boys. That’s a lot of pedophiles. It’s them.

I have a theory that there isnt actually a correlation between pedos and right-leaning politics, its just that the conservative ones are much more likely to offend and then also get caught because theyre fucking stupid.

It reminds me of what John Stuart Mill stated that he’s not saying conservatives are stupid, but that stupid people tend to be conservative.

I think you’re giving him too much credit by assuming that he’d do anything differently even with infinite time to reconsider.

Greta and other youth activists are not trying to provide the specifics of global policy. They are trying to draw attention to the failures of global policy.

They may offer generalized example solutions, but the audience for these suggestions are not policy makers. It is the public. These solutions highlight that the main roadblock is the willingness to act, not insurmountable technical challenges.

The maturity thing is a red herring. It’s a code word for something a potential sexual partner needs to have in order for the pairing to be permissible. The OP in the screenshot is upset that people view 16 year old girls as anything but objects. Doing so limits his access to them.

Ms. Thunberg was born in 2003. I had to check. Why is this even being posted now? It was a ridiculous point when Thunberg did her protest in 2018. smh

A similar argument is we should allow 18-year-olds to drink because they can be drafted for war. (Although, since kids don’t want to drink anymore, and good on them, the argument isn’t heard much anymore.)

And, 16-year-olds are too young to drive. Many would agree with this, and some would say 21, or even older is a better age. But, you know, we need them to be “productive members of society”. So, this one gets a pass. For some reason, though car rental places won’t rent to people under 25, hmm.

Eighteen is either too young or not young enough to vote.

Eighteen year olds should not be allowed to take out massive student loans, they’re too young and inexperienced to understand the ramifications, and no one explains it to them.

Age of consent is the easy way to deal with such issues. But, I don’t think it’s always the best way, or the only way.

Where I live you can be enlisted in the military and buy alcohol on your own at sixteen, and I don’t agree that either is good.

Well the age of consent is fourteen, cigarettes and some forms of alcohol are at eighteen, at some elections you have to be eighteen at some sixteen and you can only be elected to be head of state at 40, so the consistency is iffy as well

Germany. The age related laws are pretty crazy here and sometimes even people born in Germany and living here for a long time still get surprised when learning about some of them

      The new logic is:

Your able to go fight and die for your country for war, but if you’re 18 and wanna get high you’re not mature enough. 😂

I don’t see an issue with 18 drinking. All Americas age thing does it drive it underground which causes its own issues.
