I feel like time is flying because I swear I’m constantly hearing about burning man. I’m like wasn’t it last week three months ago?

I wish I could have gone to Burning Man before it was completely cooked.

Not sure what I would bring to the table. Maybe just a trunk load of charcoal and cook for three days straight.

A wook is a sort of modern day hippie but with none of the politics and even more drug use that hop around music festivals usually seen wearing psychedelic clothing and dread locks as a white guy.

        Diplo is a dj

The band wookie foot. They’re notorious for having the worst sort of obnoxious, dirtbag hippy fan base. Think unwashed, larcenous, and somehow still smug with the holier than thou attitude. Partying with them is like partying in vegas. One night is fun, anything past that is just a slow descent into hell.

Diplo is some douchbag dj. Think eurotrash party music.

Thank you. I couldn’t understand why they were hating on big Legos. But that’s Duplo.

Really a misnomer. My husband and I fucked there. It was actually kind of empty, and no other people were involved.

Funny story, they did NOT have an actual dome that year, but our camp next door did.

Several couples were found fucking on our couch cause they thought it was the orgy dome.

      Fun times.

Interesting story actually. I was always curious about the artistic aspect of BM, but that’s where myself and my friend groups always drawn the line (we dress up for Ren fairs).

No offense, I believe in freedom of expression, but 8 of the 11 people I’ve ever known who frequently attended Burning Man were unconditionally HR nightmares. By that I mean there’s a very distinct personality type that seems drawn to that event and they can’t take a hint to just stfu and not talk about it at work when people are obviously disturbed by their comments.

I also know those kinds of people, and they are annoying. But I want to say, over 70k people go to Burning Man every year, so judging them by 11 people you know is not really fair.

I’d say the majority are extremely nice and kind people who are into art, creative self-expression, and environmental sustainability. Then you have some tech bros and rich people who fly in on private planes, clearly not in the spirit of the event. And there are some kids who just want to do drugs and dance (more power to them, but they can be annoying if you are not into their scene).

You rarely hear from the good people because they tend to not walk around showing off that they went to Burning Man. You’d never know my husband went 3 times unless you have a deep conversation with him or it just happens to come up.

But some people will go once and then form their entire personality around it. This is not a reason to dislike the event itself. Like I said, the general population and atmosphere are awesome.

Oh I absolutely believe you. 70k is a lot of people that must draw in other personalities for sure. Same holds true for rennies tbh and we get some of the same types at times. It’s just that between the disturbed swingers, the scary conspiracy theorists and the weird middle aged loners that account for the 8 of 11 we know who went, it doesn’t sound like something we would risk doing lol.

So you go out into the desert with a bunch of strangers and they make this really tall dude out of like hay or something.

They’ve usually got a bunch of drugs there

As someone who doesn’t really know much about burning man, this post seems like 95% “hahah we live in a system that provides terrible living conditions no matter what.” And like 5% “at least we have burning man” lol haha
