Damn thats beautiful. Ahead of its time art wise too, right? Very Mucha-esque
I don’t know enough about art history to comment knowledgeably on whether it was ahead of its time, but I did read that Mucha didn’t like this style himself, despite it being what he is known for today. I have the impression Art Nouveau gained a lot of steam in the 1890s, so '97 would have been right in there, but an art aficionado can probably chime in here with better info than I can.
I think Mucha started his theater posters at the end of 1894, so this is probably a sign of his influence already.
His other work beside the Art Noveau posters is brilliant too, though. Both Le Pater and The Slav Epic have some great works in them.
