The Leaked List of Demands that Made Canada Refuse Trumps Trade Agreement
Summary of Key U.S. Demands in 2026 Canada-U.S. Trade Negotiationsr
/TheDailySpill
This document outlines the key demands put forward by the U.S. administration during the August 2026 tariff and trade negotiations, which led to the suspension of talks by Canadian officials over concerns regarding national sovereignty and economic autonomy.
Overview of Core Concerns and Demands
Veto Over Strategic Infrastructure Partnerships: Demands that Canada submit all major foreign investments in domestic infrastructure (including ports. telecommunications, energy pipelines, and power grids) to a joint U.S.-Canada review board, granting Washington functional veto power over foreign investment inside Canada.
Preemptive Trade Restrictions on Non-U.S. Nations: Mandates forcing Canada to match U.S. sanctions, export controls, and import tariffs on third-party countries automatically, forfeiting Canada’s right to establish independent foreign trade relations.
Jurisdictional Preemption on Critical Minerals: Requirements for the U.S. to receive guaranteed right-of-first-refusal and price caps on all unrefined critical minerals (e.g., lithium, nickel, cobalt, uranium) extracted in Northern Canada, restricting domestic processing and export to other allies.
Rescinding the Digital Services Tax & Online News Act: Demands for the total repeal of Canadian legislation requiring foreign tech platforms to pay taxes on revenues earned from Canadian users and compensate Canadian news publishers.
Elimination of Cultural and Language Protections: Direct demands to dismantle Canadian-content (CanCon) quotas, roll back the Online Streaming Act, and exempt U.S. goods and digital services from provincial language laws, specifically targeting Quebec’s French-language protections.
Elimination of “Buy Canada” Public Procurement Rules: Requirements that Canadian federal, provincial, and municipal governments grant American companies equal access to tender for public infrastructure contracts. prohibiting preferences for local or Canadian suppliers.
Dismantling Agricultural Safeguards: Demands for administrative measures or removals compromising Canada’s supply management system for dairy, egg, and poultry sectors, alongside demands to automatically adopt U.S. chemical and pesticide standards.
Unilateral Alteration of Auto Rules: Exclusion of heavy
assembly plants and key auto sectors from tariff relief, combined with restructured rules aimed at shifting auto assembly jobs directly into the U.S.
Pharmaceutical Patent Extensions: Demands to extend data exclusivity periods for foreign pharmaceutical firms, delaying generic drug access in Canada and driving up provincial healthcare costs.
Priority Allocation of Canadian Energy: Requirements for priority allocations and price guarantees on Canadian crude oil, natural gas, hydroelectricity, and nuclear energy exported to the U.S.
Binding Military & Arctic Mandates: Mandates forcing Canada to hit specific defense spending benchmarks dedicated strictly to purchasing U.S.-made military hardware for Arctic surveillance and NORAD Upgrades.
Lowering Customs & De Minimis Rules Demands to reduce tax thresholds on cross-border e-commerce, giving American retailers tax-free access to Canadian consumers at the expense of local businesses.
Hostile takeover.
Once again, we need a source more than what appears to be a word processor with a typed list. The OG link at the “dailyspill” on reddit provides no other source or claim.
At least it’s not a screenshot of someone’s Notes app
Link to the Reddit post? Link to an actual source?
I just can’t believe someone leaked this to a subreddit…
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheDailySpill/comments/1w1n0pi/the_leaked_us_trade_demands_that_caused_canada_to/ Also this is not breaking news in Canada, although it was published in Canada in long form articles and on long form in depth reporting on Canadian news, it is, or a week ago it was breaking news in the US.
Then how is it “leaked”? And who was it leaked to?
Most of that reporting was based on public statements made by key politicians and negotiators. Some of it was expanded upon on background. “Leaked US trade demands” is a dishonest claim. As far as I know, there can be no list of demands because there were only verbal discussions. Those talks broke down as they were beginning to put them in writing. So this isn’t a leaked list and it also isn’t a list of things that were leaked. So what is it? Just a list from an unknown author, I guess.
Edit: Thanks for the link!
In Canada the politicians involved pussy footed around and didn’t do more that the broad strokes, but apparently someone in the press got leaked a set of documents that they then had people in the know verify. They didn’t release it all at once for a few days, and then released the story in long form. Then a bunch of people on reddit put the hot button issues in a 4 or 5 point format, and then other people picked up the story themselves. Short form content didn’t talk about it though. Then a couple of weeks go buy and it starts going into the US Press, but they wanted to keep the God-King happy so they only talked about the hot button issues in general. I haven’t come across it but they could have put it in a point form, but for all that means this could be AI making a summary.
Then 9 days ago this appears and it was breaking news to them so they said it was “Just Leaked”. If that is just leaked that would be like coming home from a vacation and finding a wet bathroom floor from a leak.
Any source for this claim? I havent seen any reliable news source pick up this story and go with it except for random reddit ‘news’ or twitter by non-journalists.
USA: Be the 51st state or well make you the 51st state.
CAN: No.
MAGA: we don’t need anything from Canada
Also MAGA: we demand this from Canada
The things demanded on Canada is some vassal state shit. No country should ever be subject to such one sided deals.

Doesn’t really look all that official, and the source is generally unknown.
That said, in terms of the trade war, I’m surprised Canada hasn’t demanded that we include the service-deficit/trade in the calculations. The trade deficits the Americans like to quote, don’t include things like, say, how much Canada spends on Microsoft, Netflix, Apple, etc.
The USA empire needs to be brought down by the world.
Because Americans can’t be counted on to fix their shit.
Dems don’t care about Canada.
Mark Carney’s speech at Devos! He’s standing up to the USA.
Gotta develop all weapon orders with Canadian, European and Asian partners and leave NORAD.
They’re doing that themselves already.
I listened, again, to Mark Carney’s Davos speech. Thank you, Mark, for standing up to the lunatic!
