House to leave early, punting Hegseth impeachment vote until after November elections

Yeah, and they just had a month off. They’ve been back like 2 weeks.
There only so much that the Senate can do without the House. This is dereliction of duty, and Mike Johnson needs to suffer some consequences. Discharge petition, maybe? The House should absolutely not be in recess right now. If anything, this should be the nail in the coffin for their majority.
Dems can just air ads saying “House Republicans decided to take two months off right before this election? Why? Because they care more about campaigning for the job than actually doing the work that the job requires. Costs are up, debt is up, the illegal war is a failure, and people are getting sick; instead of working to find solutions, they’re running home scared.”
Republicans either think that they just need to hide and run out the clock to win a rigged election, or they’re spending two months campaigning their asses off to try to win elections they have no business winning, given the state of things. Either way, it’s disqualifying to subvert democracy in this way.
So pretty much like the last 22 months?

Good, the post-Midterm Congress will be much more hostile toward Hegseth. I’d rather have THAT Congress voting on him.
The Dems, should they win, would not take control of congress till Jan 2027. The GOP would probably force the vote before the end of the session, while GOP is still majority, and then howl ‘Witch Hunt’ if the Dems try to bring it back again.
This, of course presumes the Dems don’t completely fuck this up, which historically, is what they seem best at.
The dems aren’t incompetent, they’re complicit.
The only change in Congress after the midterms will be that there will be some lame ducks and some congresspeople that can make unpopular votes because they don’t fear their voters. The new Congress won’t be seated until January.
I suppose that’s a good point, so long as the midterms actually go well for the Dems.

So they are confident they will win the mid-terms. This should set alarm bells ringing, if that’s not already the case.
