This story makes no sense and yet media is running with words like “outbreak”.

She broke a vial of yersinia pestis bacteria, but there was no bacterial infection.

no “microorganisms linked to the employee’s professional activities were detected” in her body, and that there had been “no new cases” of illness among other employees of the lab.

    So…

    1. There is no outbreak

    2. Someone died of pneumonia, as do 2.5 million worldwide every year.

    3. she happened to work in a lab. Where she was wearing PPE.

Plague my ass. Something like plague would not make high officials travel to the area and it also wouldn’t cause the censor apparatus to scrub everything. Plague is treated with standard antibiotics and supporting measures when needed. There’s no need for anyone coming from Moscow for something like this.

I realize the situation around MRSA worldwide and STDs especially in some areas in the USA becoming badly resistant, it sucks (and is mainly self-inflicted by society). But hospitals are not full of Yersinia pestis which then comes into contact with low doses of antibiotics, not even in Russia i hope. They were messing around with things better being kept untouched, but that’s another thing societies are bad at, especially the russian society.

Bacteria routinely exchange genes across different species.

It’s entirely conceivable to accidentally or deliberately put MRSA and Yersinia pestis together in the same environment to breed Methicillin-resistant Yersinia Pestis.

Here in the States, the medical system has clamped down on routine (human) antibiotic use much more than they used to prescribe them, but in Russia, who knows?

This is what I was wondering. Cases of Yersinia pestis are not unheard of around the world, especially in rural areas. It’s highly treatable. This has to be something different, or the media is just making it out to be something bigger than it is

Oh, for the russian government swooping in so fast when it only concerns a few unimportant people there must be something behind it. They didn’t even give a fuck in Chernobyl until the entire world was in the know, why should they here?
