Get some heavy duty wire cutters, that would be the easiest method, but if you don’t have any you can just take a hammer to that plastic bit and obliterate it. Heck, even a hefty stone would work.

Keep it as decoration, you can use it without taking it out… you got yourself an extra faraday cage layer

The bar code identifies the specific type of product, not a n individual example within that type of product. It’s not a serial code.

I ran into this a lot when I worked for a pet food manufacturer. If there was an issue with a product, customers often assumed the UPC could identify when the product was made, where it was distributed, and even where it was purchased. It does not. Otherwise packaging would be incredibly inefficient to make because each bag of the same recipe and size would need its own unique UPC.

Bolt cutters would make quick work of those cables; but if you don’t already have some, you might see if you can get a couple of flat head screw drivers into the top of the notch where your fingers are in the picture. I’m guessing that’s part of where the plastic cage comes apart when it’s unlocked, so it could be a good leverage point if you wanted to try just forcing it open.

Iirc these things are “locked” by magnetic elements so just run a strong magnet around the gray part and listen for anything moving around. Might need multiple magnets at once

If we’re being very lazy with few tools, a pair of pliers will do it. Pinch the wire close to one of the joints and bent it back and forth a bunch of times. The wire cable will eventually snap. Do it for a few of them and it’ll open a big enough hole.

Or, uh, return it to the store where you found it or alert the local police so the local corporate retail site gets their, uh, property back. Yeah.

There’s also a joke about sexy fishnet stockings but I’m having trouble completing the joke.

Disassemble it, take the parts out and reassemble it. Be sure to blow bits of dust and hair off the platter before reassembly.

Cutters? Why are you going for the steel wire when there’s very easily smahsable plastic piece?
