No it was making me so poor I couldn’t worry about nonsense like wealth because I was worried about nonsense like food, shelter, and being able to afford to show up to work to afford the basic requirements for life.
Also why fewer people vote every election. When neither party lifts a finger to help you, it feels pretty pointless to miss a day of work.
I’m fortunate enough to live in a place where I can mail in my votes but since that place happens to be California the struggle is very real and we are constantly at odds with today’s administration.
Most of the time I feel good about mail-in voting, but in this election I’m making it a point to vote early and in person. There are just too many legal ways to fuck with mail-in ballots and Donald has made it abundantly clear he intends to do so.
That’s an extremely valid point.
It’s second-greatest trick was to convince people that poverty is a personal failing rather than a policy choice.
You’re poor because you’re immoral and dumb.
I’m poor because the minorities have taken over the system and I need to give up a bit more of my freedoms to the system so it can prevail and I can be rich.
We are not the same.
this is what the system teaches
Ghisline Maxwell’s dad published our textbooks
For the curious:
In subsequent years he worked in publishing, building up Pergamon Press to a major academic publisher. After serving as a Labour member of Parliament from 1964 to 1970, Maxwell again put all his energy into business, successively buying the British Printing Corporation, Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) and Macmillan Inc., among other publishing companies.
