I’m not totally sure if this is a Piefed issue or a Blahaj server issue, so sorry if it’s the wrong spot for this.
I’ve noticed that when I try to search for things, the results I get aren’t as expected. If I don’t select to search a community, post, or comment, I get nothing. Searching for posts or comments also pretty frequently gets me nothing.
Random example: just searching ‘signal’ gets me nothing on both posts and comments, along with nothing if I select nothing. But if I search under communities it gives me a community that is already federated and has threads and comments about Signal.

Could y’all take a look at this code stuff I don’t understand so that search is working properly for Piefed Blahaj? 🫶
And thank you Rimu!
Yep, we have the fix, and will be putting it in place ASAP
Yay, thanks!
Kaity has worked her magic and implemented the fix. Search is working now
🥳 Thank you both!
Yeah this is likely effecting most new PieFed instances.
Thanks Blaze! Will run that asap!
Thank you!
Done! :)
And now it indeed works, great! :)
I’ve just made a fix that will weight the title of a post higher than the body. So if your search term is in the title of a post that will be deemed as more relevant and higher in the search results than a post with it in the body.
This will be part of the v1.2 release.
Something seems off indeed.
I searched for “Piefed” and nothing showed up
Yeah, or “microsoft”, despite the top post having that word in its very title.
Search functionality in general is not ideal on PieFed, but specifically for piefed.blahaj.zone it seems broken.

That’s good to know, I had assumed that was for search engines crawling the site and not the search within Piefed. Thanks for the update!
It’s both, which is a bit unfortunate. But what we’re seeing lately is bots hoovering up every post regardless of whether we want them to or not so…
Alas, also good to know!
