A couple of years back AT&T decided to implement a phone white list where if the phone model you were using wasn’t on the list then it wouldn’t work on their network even if it was technologically compatible. You could bring your own device, but only if it was on that list. The phone I was using at the time (and every phone after that) was not on the list, so I switched to a carrier that did not have that restriction.

You kinda can. I purchased mine through Clove Technology which ships to the US and am using it with a carrier that allows me to bring my own device.

As long as I pay my bill I don’t get why they should even care what phone I have.
Oh thank you, I saw them on amazon for like $900 but that just seems crazy. I just bought one from clove. Thanks for the suggestion.
