I see waaaaay too much trust on the Dem / Lean Dem side for my comfort. Understanding that all of these sources have biases and that some of these biases are independent of Dem / Repub squabbling seems lost on too many.

The maximum is 61%, which doesn’t seem that high to me. It means 3 of 5 Democrats trust the most trusted source.

Much more important to me is that the Republicans basically only have one news source that they trust: Fox News.

The distrust of the news is a great tool for fascists, because in a post-truth world they can just substitute whatever nonsensical, hate-filled ideas they want for reality.

Perhaps it is more trustworthy than Fox News? (I don’t know; I just live in my Lemmy/Mastodon social media bubble.)

High, broad trust in trustworthy institutions is a good thing, it makes life in general easier which increases social engagement and, potentially, change.

WTF again with no one asking about aljezerra at all. What a propaganda campaign did to them, yes they show all kinds of horrible things, because its news. People should by default never trust a news source from inside their country as its biased, look around folks, look at all kinds of news, never take the word of one place.

Curious that Democrats don’t really distrust anything other than the most recognisable conservative outlets. Neither side seems to have a healthy view of media bias, especially with where WSJ is on the chart. I haven’t seen any major reporting of value coming from WSJ for ages now but they were genuinely fine before despite being ran by neoliberal vampires because it’s a bias that’s easy to correct for.
