      There weren’t really many super rich people in the USSR. There were people with a lot of influence and power, who had nicer houses, better food, clothes, etc. but very few had a tons of money stashed away. You have to remember that Stalin and many of his followers viewed capitalism as the root of all evil and would imprison or kill rich people.

      And many of those influential people used that power after the fall to become super rich by snapping up former state assets. Which is seemingly part of their current goal in the US: Isolate the country and destroy government assets to privatize them. Literally trying to recreate the situation that created the 90s Russian oligarchs.

        Highly influential people who were loyal to Yeltsin: Oligarchs.

        Ah fuck. It’s gonna be religious cults that do all that. The LDS and Scientologists already have lots of properties and oceans of assets to leverage for it, as well as the only sense of community most Americans ever experience.
