Where are fireworks a traditional November activity?
UK it’s Bonfire Night
This was what I came to the comments for. I’ve lived in four nations and all over the US and I’ve never seen fireworks in November. I would have guessed it was a niche UK thing.
Autumn is my favorite time of year!
Mine too!
September is very much still summer in my region :/
Its generally still hot most of the way through October, too, but its not unheard of to have snow on Halloween
Yeah I’m lucky if Autumn starts in December.
Fireworks in November? Fuck that. There’s absolutely nothing wholesome about fireworks.
It’s family time it’s wholesome
I always get bummed out in fall. Lack of biking/camping, darker, colder nights, and SAD. I miss swimming :(
Plus, 20 ish years of associating fall with going back to school, haha.
I would argue that the biking and camping are even better in the fall! The trails are better lit with less trees, sweating doesn’t suck as bad, the campfire is nice and warm, the sun goes down at a reasonable time for bed, and how good is hot coffee and the rebuilt fire in the morning!?
Depends on where you are, they get very rainy and wet here! Riding is frowned upon once it’s muddy since it braids the trails.
Summer is the only season I don’t camp in, unless I can do it in VERY high elevation where the temps are cooler. Fall begins nine months of camping!
Hooray, perpetual cold hands and higher heating bills
I totally get this. I could live in a desert and probably enjoy it mostly, even in the summer! The north is too cold and dark. A snowbird lifestyle might be for me!
Have you tried electric blankets? I saved a fortune when I started using that rather than heating. I sit on the sofa wrapped in it
I’m guessing it doesn’t get -20 or below where you live? We get weeks of that at a time, mixed with occasional balmy -5 days. I have to run the heat.
Sorry, I know that’s not in the spirit of the community. But I really don’t like the colder months
Its fine to not like something, but it still comes with some positives. There’s a certain peace and calm that comes with the darkness and cold. There’s a certain comfort from being warm under the layers (clothes or quilts). Also try electric blankets (very cheap heating) and a hot drink if you choice (Jasmine green tea for me). Generally a time of year for less activity and more introspection … Or TV binge watching, whatever you prefer.

I read this as chronchy, and enjoyed that so I think I’ll keep it that way in my head. 🤣🍂
Haha that’s loads better
Don’t forget the best months for raw oysters.
All the -r months! (In french 😄)
I had a pumpkin ale on the deck with my hubby, and we both needed to put on a sweatshirt! We’ve been getting great weather lately - actual proper fall weather, highs in the mid-seventies and lows in the low fifties (~23 and 10 centigrade respectively) with no humidity. Normally we’d still be in the eighties with tons of humidity!
Guess it’s time to go buy some mums!
September is gonna be pretty much summer here🫤
beer in the park for the next 4 months
Cries in south Florida.
I’ll be laughing in February though.
I find excluding the southern hemisphere to be very wholesome.
Because you can’t enjoy the same things by happenstance of location, nobody can? It’s rude to even bring it up?
True I can’t and neither should you :^)
