The Poor People’s Campaign was a march on Washington D.C. to gain economic justice for poor people in the United States that began on this day in 1968, just one month after the assassination of one of its key organizers, MLK Jr.

The protest was also organized by Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and carried out under the leadership of Ralph Abernathy in the wake of King’s assassination.

After presenting an organized set of demands to Congress and executive agencies, participants set up a 3,000-person protest camp on the Washington Mall, where they stayed for six weeks in the spring of 1968.

Among those demands was a proposal for an “economic bill of rights” that included a commitment to full employment, a guaranteed annual income measure, and more low-income housing for poor Americans of all races.

"I think it is necessary for us to realize that we have moved from the era of civil rights to the era of human rights…

When we see that there must be a radical redistribution of economic and political power, then we see that for the last twelve years we have been in a reform movement…

That after Selma and the Voting Rights Bill, we moved into a new era, which must be an era of revolution…"

-MLK Jr., in a 1967 planning meeting

I’m finishing Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins. I don’t know how to feel about the world. I’ve read enough to know about all of these things in bits and pieces. Listened to Blow Back. But I continue to feel likeAmerican collapse is the only deserved and moral outcome.

Plasma center went pretty good today, thought for sure I’d be there forever but make it pretty early in the morning and there weren’t any lines. My blood flowed pretty well and didn’t feel any unusual pain so I’m pretty happy. Last time I went it was an 2 almost 3 hours to be pricked, guess with the new plasma clinic and new hours they doing things have speed up. Thought some woke thoughts as my plasma left me so hopefully the persons who get it get my brainworms.

We talked about what we’d all do if we won the lottery at work. A lot of people just want leisure and never to work, a couple wanted to open a Cafe, another person just wanted to paint for the rest of her life. I actually would probably still be doing the same job, it’d be nice to not worry about money anymore though!

I hear Sting got his name as a teenager because he wore a sweater with black and yellow stripes. But that’s absolute bullshit. Nobody in Newcastle would have given him a cool nickname. They probably called him “The Twat in the Bumblebee Jumper” or some shit.

Just finished Andor, there’s going to be a season 3 right?

Should I watch Rogue One now(haven’t seen it before) or wait till after Andor has finished completely? I assume it tells the fate of some characters and the outcome of the BoY although I do already have a vague idea of that

    EDIT: apparently there’s not going to be a S3 :( guess I’ll watch R1

Big things happening in Babs Labs

This will be a 3lb camlifter-hammersaw, kind of like if you jammed the two bots of Endpoint into one unholy monstrosity.

It starts by driving into the opponent and getting them on its flat little forks sticking out front. The servo rotates, and the linkages cause the forks to rotate 90 degrees, hopefully high-centering the opponent so it can’t drive away.

That’s when I rev up the hammersaw, and slam it into to the top of my enemy.

I probably made it too complicated and fragile, but we’ll see when I actually finish it several months from now.

Does anyone else feel Tʜᴇ Rᴏᴛ setting in?

I don’t know what it is, but I can definitely feel it and have named it appropriately.

Feels a step or two beyond enshittification, and farther reaching.

Maybe capitalism is just showing it’s ass extra hard or something

Or my depression has improved enough that I can actually feel things again and everything is just very off compared to the last time I could feel.
