    “People have it worse than you do, so quit being sad.”

    The logical end of this argument is that the one person in the world who has it the worst is the only person allowed to be unhappy.

    Have you tried meditation?

    It’s actually good advice, meditation helps me a ton, but…I already do it. It’s like the #1 choice for people offering unsolicited advice that haven’t bothered to learn anything about me first.

    I mean, sometimes the person receiving advice is just so worked up about something that it doesn’t even occur to them to just stop and take a beat. Happens to my wife all the time, sometimes being told to “Just relax” is literally all she needs to get back on top of things.
