I hope the Boss doesn’t get fucked up by the Trump administration (and all that entails) when he gets back home.

Anyone who has to wrap themselves in the flag is compensating for the fact that their politics are distinctly unamerican. MAGAt dipshits cannot tell the signifiers from the thing being signified.

Is this post about 2001 or 2025? He voted for Obama and spoke out against Trump. A lot of people were supportive of Bush as a reaction to 9/11, which of course changed over time.

I’m not defending Keith’s actions at that time, just saying that there are plenty of artists that strongly support MAGA, that are also still alive today, who would probably make a lot more sense.

Well, when someone puts out incomplete or outright incorrect information it tends to piss people off. Not to say saying Toby Keith being a Democrat was incorrect, but we live in an era where you kind of have to be an open nerve about misinformation.

It’s not misinformation though, dude was literally a Democrat and didn’t intend for his song to become the marching drums it became.

Edit: dude may have been registered as a Dem but was full fascist since the nineties. My bad.

              Registered as a democrat.

His political leanings were conservative. He heavily supported Bush and also performed for Trump.

Fuck Toby Keith, and yes - a lie of omission is still a lie, no matter how many idiots agree that it isn’t.

No worries, people like to blindly support whatever makes their heart feel better. It’s easier for people to believe he isn’t a piece of shit, so they do.

It’s stupid, which is why I call it out as such. Blind devotion to people who would trade you for more personal wealth in a heartbeat.

I can’t believe you all are focusing around that particular shot of Bruce Springsteen. It’s a horrible picture. Get a better picture.

MAGA wipes their collective ass with the founding charter of this country so I’d argue that they are de facto fundamentally no longer Americans.

Hey, I didn’t say it first. If that’s what those fuckers want, it’s what those fuckers get. It’s not a slippery slope, it’s the same idea as the social contract (well, it is the social contract): if they won’t respect the rules then the rules don’t apply to them. That might sound like a good thing until you realise the rules protect, as well as bind.

Obviously yes, for now anyway. That’s a question of their legal status, and that doesn’t hinge on personal beliefs or views in America. Which is kind of exactly the point I’m making, if you were able to see it.

You think “yes, they’re citizens of the USA” is fascist shit? You’re dumber than I imagined possible. I’ll spell it out for you:

If they’re not Americans, it’s by their own choice.

If you believe there should be rules that bind but do not protect, you know what that makes you?

The founding charter of this country was built for slaver plantation owners and other mercantilists, not the average person. I’d argue that hardly anyone alive today truly values the founding intentions, only their distorted interpretations of such.

With that in mind and the current state of things in mind, I think a Balkanization of the US, if not North America, is inevitable.

That’s funny, I didn’t see any of those people specified in the document, and it’s been updated a few times too. Arguing intention might be interesting but it isn’t what I’m doing here; I’m going off the text of the document, and things like the right to trial are pretty valuable to me. Which of the civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution are the ones people mostly or entirely don’t care about, in your view?

They didn’t want to be, they tried to rebel to keep slavery.

Our mistake in forcing them to stay, or at least not giving every slave owner to their slaves before moving on.
