My insta feed is drowning in gushing memes about it
Didn’t see it, but the bunny pissed off Trump so I’m guessing it was amazing.
Immediate positive. Anything that pisses him off makes me a happy butterfly
This is what Im confused about, Ive heard there was a LOT of backlash from the community around it not being an " American " enough halftime show, and some people were even opting to change the channel to watch a " better " halftime show, whats all that about?
Racism, obviously. The Turning Points half time show that was produced as an alternative sounds pretty sad too. Look up the line up, the only person I’d ever heard of was Kid Rock.
Bad Bunny isn’t the kind of music I listen to at all, but I really enjoyed his halftime show. I thought it was cool how they made it feel like a live filming of a music video as they moved through the trees. I liked seeing all the little bits and details that symbolize Puerto Rico in the background. Catching Pedro Pascal in there was pretty awesome too!
It was an amazing performance.
I thought it was interesting. Didn’t much care for the music — not my kinda thing. I thought it was well produced. I wish it had subtitles so I’d know what he was talking about. The lack of subtitles, given the production quality elsewhere, tells me it doesn’t really matter what he was saying, and I’m not sure that’s the message Bad Bunny wanted to send, especially with his message of unification at the end. I understood that part. When he named all the countries in North and South America.
I also realise I don’t have to like the music. I feel like gridiron football appeals mostly to men of all ages, from young boys learning how to play to older men who have been watching for years (or, even if you don’t watch much). But I also feel like a lot of the extra stuff isn’t targeting me. I do subscribe to Apple Music, but even that seems marketed at the younger generations. Most of the ads were targeting younger people. So I’m fine with that. It was entertaining to watch and most of the music isn’t going to be for everyone. I’m sure there were people who didn’t like Michael Jackson’s performance way back when, or even Prince’s more recently. I do feel like for having the Super Bowl at the San Francisco 49ers arena, they could have got a California band. I’m referring specifically to Metallica and the efforts of their fans (which I used to be) to see them play a Super Bowl one day.
I put it on just to watch his half time performance and spite the haters. I was on my feet singing and dancing to all of it. I like his music but I would not call myself a huge fan. Puerto Rican Spanish is a little hard for me but I understood most of the lyrics. I thought it was a good show.
Bordering on complete apathy. As a European who is generally not interested in sports, my disinterest is doubled when it comes to superb owls of the non-avian persuasion.
And I’m an old fart who learned only a few days ago that Bad Bunny is a dude, which should be an indicator of how much I know about him. I would presume he’s good at what he does, but that what he does is not very align with my tastes.
But as long as he leaves the chuds fuming, I’ll silently approve.
next year, someone should put on a superb Owl contest and air it when the non owl based show is on.
I didnt watch it but I have a question for those who did, is it true there was some backlash around it not being " American " enough to be a half time show? That is preposterous to me, its the superbowl halftime show, no matter who preforms its inertly american.
He spoke Spanish. And obviously there are almost no Spanish speakers in America, and never have been. So therefore its not American
I watched it Monday morning and i thought it was fun. The logistics of getting everything on/off the field so quickly, plus the part where he fell through the ceiling, is crazy. The trees were people!
THE TREES WERE PEOPLE?!?! oh this is what im talking about, seems like a fun experience to observe!!
Here’s a video of the setup. Other videos said that they used people instead of rolling them out like the building facade because this field uses natural grass so they have to limit the number and weight of the carts. One guy said he applied for the job and was chosen with about 500 others. They had to be able to tolerate a 50 pound costume for 5 hours, practiced for two weeks, and did not get to watch any of the game.
As he’s quite overplayed here, I was really not thinking of watching it until I was bored and had some time yesterday. In a recent concert in Peru he confused the country and shouted something about Chile, even.
With that being said, it’s still a pretty big step to have a superbowl performance in Spanish when a lot of people from the US don’t know that PR is part of the states. Nothing is magically fixed or better, but his message seemed to be to unify Spanish speakers and believe in yourself.
I watched most of it and I thought it was rather solid.
It’s not my taste in regards to music, but halftime shows have never been entirely about the music. I want to see a show, unless it’s an old school band or artist coming out of retirement to perform. I want to see coordinated dancing, moving props, creative theming. And he delivered.
That said, I’m a complete sucker for aerial choreography. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna have some insane performances, especially Rihanna who performed while being pregnant.
Don’t understand Spanish, so couldn’t get into it. Honestly a bit baffled that English subtitles weren’t available. Or maybe they were, but not on the local over-the-air broadcast I viewed?
I’ve heard folks say that you don’t need to understand lyrics to enjoy good music, and I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t understand Japanese, but there hasn’t been an Ado release yet that I don’t love. For me, though, I think it only works for melodic lyrics, not the hip-hop/rap that Bunny was doing. When Ricky Martin came in with his little interlude, I immediately enjoyed that, but then it only lasted like 10 seconds.
From what I’ve heard in the last day about the performance, from folks who did understand it, it sounds great. Maybe it’ll be posted with subs on YouTube or something soon, and I can watch that
I’m pretty indifferent to his music, not really my thing but I can see it being great at a club or party.
I am a fan of his from his SNL and late night appearances though. Hes a smart funny entertainer.
I thought the show was great. I was maybe hoping for some more blatant trolling of the MAGAts, but his overall message of pride, love, and unity was nice too.
didn’t watch it. heck im not even looking to watch the commercials anymore. im not sure I would if my home team was in it nowdays.
what is this superpower event? What/who are the bad bunnies? I should also mention that I have no Instagram account. but in my defense as a child I had a plushie teddy bear. He was softer and nicer than any bunny even though most people seeing him would have disagreed with that as they seemed to only notice it was a ragged old thing.
Does that count as a valid answer to your question, or should I just keep quiet? ;)
