During the 70s and early 80s the general western view of Japan was exactly the same: they made cheap copies of European and American stuff.
It’s like living in BSG: happened before, will happen again.

So they can charge them with vandalising a fake piece made of plastic?

Hate to have to repeat this.
My late dad had a fell at home and broke his femur in two places.
Half an hour after his home fall alert was triggered, a team of paramedics was at his home. They got there before I arrived and had already stabilised and immobilised him.
An hour later he was admitted in ER, got checked and X-rayed.
Four hours later he was in the OR room, where they replaced half his femur with a piece of titanium. Then he was at the hospital for one week and then sent to a recovery clinic.
He paid zero € for all the process, including ambulance, intervention, ‘hardware’ and recovery.
Oh, this is Spain, not precisely the richest country in the EU.
Of course, if you go to ER because you’re sneezing, you will have to wait. But if you go to a private clinic using your private insurance you have to wait too…

You are believing a notorious bunch of liars.
Much more probably: they developed a cyberweapon and tested it in the wild. The victim caught them so they invented a cyberpunk history to increase the interest of potential buyers for that weapon.
Out of the USA he is a mild centre-left person.

That’s peak ignorance. Plenty of countries with universal heathcare have a thriving private medical insurance industry. The thing is they cannot force the scam level prices they do in the US, because private insurance is a ‘nice to have’ instead of a ‘must have’ thing.
Is it legal to wish someone to put a knee on his neck until this bastard passes out?
The Witcher 3.
Awesome writing, really beautiful rendering, really good main history and side quests.
Watch one of the thousands of ‘how to start the Witcher 3’ to avoid common mistakes at the beginning of the game. And be ready for plenty of hours in The Continent.
(Oh, and forget the Netflix series, the games follow a completely different canon)
That was probably progressive at that time though… I mean, the ones who wrote it, not the imaginary space guy.

In Spain there is an established procedure. The doctor signing you for sick leave must work for the public healthcare system, and the cost of the procedure is zero. The communication to the employer is via electronic means, and the information provided to the company DOES NOT contain the diagnose nor the treatment, just the estimated recovery time.

Or simply consider the fact people gets sick part of the cost of doing business, and plan accordingly.

What about not having ‘sick days’ but unconditional paid medical leave if deemed necessary by your MD?
That’s what we have, and although it can be abused (as everything) it seems the most humane and natural thing to have. You cannot know how many days you will be sick. Generally people doesn’t get sick at all!

While firing someone via text message on Friday is absolutely OK.
HR guys are basically the company’s lackeys.

The way it was in the past
A long, long time ago
Before staff levels dropped
They used to listen to the radio
And listen to the DJ’s talk
About the songs they didn’t know
As if it really mattered
Hit-pick or phone-in show
I don’t want you to go tonight
Ten thousand watts of power
News headlines on the hour tonight
Our music beats the best
You just don’t need the rest tonight
Once I couldn’t care at all
But I can feel the ratings fall tonight
And 20 years ago
No-one seemed to care
The people must have known
The DJ’s role was only there
To fill in space between the songs
That talk of love and other things
As if they didn’t matter
Automatic stations came
And sent them all away
And now I’m left alone
I haven’t got a word to say
And you’re the one who makes the choice
To turn me on or turn me off
But now it really matters
Hit-pick or phone-in show
I don’t want you to go tonight
Ten thousand watts of power
News headlines on the hour tonight
Our music beats the best
You just don’t need the rest tonight
Once I couldn’t care at all
But I can feel the ratings fall tonight

I don’t want you to go tonight

You just don’t need the rest tonight

Air travel could be effectively decarbonised if green electricity cost were close to zero. When electricity does not cost a thing you can make synthetic fuel from water and atmospheric CO2.
There is no way to replace burning fuel to power long haul flights, but the fuel does not need to come from fossil oil.
For short haul electric planes can be a good solution when trains are out of the question.

Ban that crap.

Good. Now ban data brokers.
I understand, but the value of the destroyed ‘object’ is ridiculous so the penalty has to be minimal.
Edit:
Oh, and what if the ‘culprit’ just covers the fake camera?
