It can be deadly, but you can recover from it. I do not think you can ever be really cured of the mentality, but it is possible to get it under control.

1·11 天前People can “feel” how ever they want. But when those feelings bring them to telling others to “not punch a Nazi” (symbolically here), in that moment, they are just defending a Nazi from the consequences of their actions and denying justice to victims.
I agree with this fully, though. But nobody here has said not to punch nazis, just told they feel bad about it (figuratively).
My pont is: if you are a soldier on a war front, you do not have to hate the enemy, or their leader, or anyone, to shoot them. You just have to know they will kill you, your family, and destroy your culture, if you do not. Telling people they should feel only pure hatred towards monstrous people seems reasonable, since you are correct they do not share the compassion nor deserve it - but it is not a requirement for fighting against evil. If you cannot hold a steady hand, even knowing faltering will kill your loved ones, kids in gaza, countless other victims or cause some other horrendous thing, you have to find the resolve in you, to do it anyway. But that resolve does not require hatred, it can be even just the love for someone else. If you punch a nazi, the emotion driving your resolve does not matter. What matters is doing it, even if you feel that empathy, because you believe what you are defending, is worth it.

Cats are perfectly fit to live in the wild, they are apex predators with insane kill-ratios, that will decimate the local small fauna. Even most escaped housecats will survive just fine on their own. Only ones, that have some health conditions, or have been inbred, to have flat faces and excessive fur etc., cannot survive without human care.
Getting angry is only one possible response, people are different, and there is nothing wrong with it. But I agree, we should still punch nazis. But also, it does not have to feel good. No one should force themselves, to become something, they are not.

Yes, it can apply to so many things! I too have some very random traits taken to the extreme as well, not only skills or sensory stuff. For example I severely lack in the basic ability to regulate myself just in general; I will either give 100% in everything I do (face-to-face interactions with others included), or I will do something only barely or not at all.
I have described “spiky”, as imagine a sound board, with those up and down sliding switches. Most people have all of their switches close to the middle of the scale, just some a bit higher, and some a bit lower. But autistic people tend to have many of those switches turned either fully up, or fully down, and of course completely randomly as well.

That depends which of them, and the style you play it. I have played the Sims 2 for twenty years, and do not remember when was the last time I played some boring everyday life with a single family. I do things, like create huge family trees and play the entire neighborhood as one, tangling the relationships, and making drama and whatever I feel like. Murder mysteries, cults, monasteries, a nursing home for the elderly, fill big graveyards with a serial killer, build random stuff like an opera house or an art gallery, and run them as a businesses… Adding mods especially lets you play however you want. I even played a genuine Zombie Apocalypse scenario, with mods, that made the zombified sims npc’s, that would attack everyone on their own, and infect the attacked, who would then soon die and turn into another zombie.
Thanks for the answer. I have been searching, has anyone gotten it to work well enough as an artist, but so far I have had no luck… the SP-Linux userbase does not seem to overlap that much, with digital artists. Personally I use my SP7 a lot for drawing, so I am still stuck on Windows 10.
2·16 天前Sounds extremely familiar, I am partially face-blind, so I have had plenty of those encounters, over the years. So far my worst one was, when I completely forgot a teacher, that was teaching the art class I was taking, for a year. I had zero recognition, even after they told who they were - and they remembered me very well. Talk about awkward… I just do not learn faces, and if I learn to remember them over long, continuous exposure, I will quickly forget again, once we stop seeing. I cannot even form a full picture of a face in my mind.
Euthanasia should only be used as a last resort
That is… that is what it is now, basically? People in animal shelters generally don’t want to kill the animals, but what are they going to do, if they have places for fifty, and five hundred in need? They are killing them, because it is the last resort. There just are not enough resources for all the dogs - or other animals - needing help.
Probably schadenfreude, annoyance and frustration combined, I would guess. The US politics are blastered constantly on your face on the web, news, everywhere, and dominate the discussions on Fediverse as well. Being here, you basically cannot escape, reading people from the US fighting each other about things, that sound asinine, in the context of many other cultures. I have observed this annoys many people (myself included, though I try to just avoid engaging), and with how the Trump idiocies fuck with the rest of the world as well right now, these combined seem to cause all sort of unhelpful lashing outs.
Did you get the touch screen work flawlessly? I tried Zorin with my SP7, but even with the surface linux kernel properly installed, the touch input was greatly reduced, pen too laggy to draw accurately enough, and you could not turn the hand touch input off, for when the pen is near.
2·18 天前I can recommend Zorin as well, it has been very beginner-friendly.
Mine evolved into major depression around twenty years ago, and I have had major health issues practically the whole time as well. I have never been physically or mentally healthy as an adult, and I was not doing well before that, either. So… I mean, I could always be doing even worse.
My biggest achievement in life, has been staying alive this long.
4·18 天前In my experience, the drama is bad in the hobby spaces too, the more people, the worse. I think it is just something, that happens, every time enough people interact with each other.
I will add, that “support” includes parents needing to tell beforehand, what is appropriate behavior, since that step is failed too often. Then if the kids mess up, they can recognize easier, what went wrong, compared to just fumbling and getting consequences for it, and having to figure out why. Outsourcing the responsibility to teach, just to the environment, leads to catastrophes too. Neither suffocating nor negligence, are good strategies for raising children.
Ah… Figured as much, thanks for the answer. I got the pressure to work, yeah, but it was greatly reduced, and too laggy to actually use with the pen. I am now stuck with Windows 10, as I cannot get enough functionality from Linux distros, and there is no way I will deal with the dumpster fire Windows 11 is. Unfortunately, there are no other proper, portable computer + display good enough to draw -combinations on the market than SPs, still. At least ones I could afford…
There is also “raining like pouring from a bucket”, in Finnish (“sataa kuin saavista kaatamalla”).
I would do a bug theme too! But instead you would just walk into some weird shitty park, that has not been taken care of, and has grown all wild. The tall grasses would be filled with low level bug pokemon, but no trainers. Once you get through them, you would find a shed, that looks like it has been build out of trash. And then I would wake up mumbling and get out, looking like a weird hobo bug catcher, with a straw hat and flip flops, and holding a patched net. I would do some weird ranting speech, about how nobody cares about the nature anymore, and how all lawns should be banished and grow wild.
My team would then be moderately leveled bug pokemon, maybe a leavanny and a scolipede, and two metapods for some reason. And after you would have beaten me, I would tell you should let your lawn grow out, and then give you a badge, that looks to be a lid of a tincan, picked from a trash pile, and cut and bend into a really bad flower shape. I would go back to sleep in the shitty shed, and you would leave, unsure about how to feel about all that.

Oh, and the storyline would continue, that after you have beaten some more difficult gyms, and the plot brings you back to that town, you would find a brand new park on the site the shitty park was, with very tidy grass and all. And when talking to locals, they would just say stuff, like “The old park was really ugly” and “Oh, the homeless person? Who knows where they went”. Then later in the game you would come to an orchard, with a farmer telling you, it has been taken over by pokemon, and asking can you go in and see, if you can find a reason they are there, since he is terribly afraid of bugs.
And so you go in there, and find the grass has already grown a lot, and there are tons and tons of low level bug pokemon everywhere. Deep in the orchard you would encounter a barely standing tent, and find me sleeping inside. I would only say “Zzz… The gym is closed, come back later…” without waking up. So you would have to go back to the farmer, and tell them, you think the bugs came from the old park. And they would be all “Oh… I guess they have no other place to go now… how terrible…”
And then if you would go back in the town after beating all the gyms in the area, you would find the new park has its grass overgrown, and flowers been planted everywhere, and people walking around happily, and bugs buzzing around. Townspeople would say stuff like “I did not realize wild grass could be so pretty!” and “It’s good all the bugs have a home again”. And you would find me sleeping in a brand new toolshed, still looking like a homeless person and saying just the same thing about the gym being closed.
