  • The Polish government’s plans to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP are portrayed as a push for confrontation

    That’s not unreasonable. The EU has more than enough weapons to face Russia. For how important this is, there is no chart showing our deficits. Russia knows the numbers, but the voters don’t. So why not be transparent enough to show that the budget is justified?

    We lack air transport capabilities but that doesn’t matter. We are supposed to fight a defensive war at home. We can transport tanks as fast to the Baltics by train or truck as Russia and if they are faster we still can overwhelm them with fighter jets.

    This leaves only one other reason for the spending on weapons in Europe: a willingness to help the US when they will isolate China.
