Russia doesn’t bomb civilians unlike ukraine.
And it saved a lot of innocent civilian victims from being ethnic cleansed.
As they had been trying to do since the 2014 coup.
But again the same double standards, the west didn’t really care about what their proxy nazi’s did to them.

These things happen in war unfortunately.
When there are attacks with 500+ of drones and many missiles per day with only a handful of civilian casualties it’s pretty clear that they are not ‘targeting civilians and wanting to make as many casualties as possible’ as the western propaganda claim.
Unlike ukrainians that deliberately target civilian infrastructure, from schools to hospitals.

It’s a bit of a stretch. Both sides did similar things.

You’re welcome to go to some right-wing circle jerk (which is most of .world) and stay in your bubble if you can’t handle that.
Most of the rabid McCarthyists get angry immediately when they invariably lose the discussion against knowledgeable people and resort to vulgar insults.
                  On par with their beliefs.

I will never forget that piece of shit Matthew Miller shedding a tear for the poor children of Ukraine during the Russian Invasion and then shrugging and effectively saying " its war stuff happens" when confronted with the horrific massacre of children in Gaza by the Zionist regime.

Honestly a bit of bait is good. I have enjoyed reading the discussions that emerged in some of those threads. I see this post for what it is: bait. You could make less provocative posts but even then some people just want to read it as tankie propaganda.

Maybe we should create a community called “tankie memes” for when you do want to go all out and trigger people

Some of the bait can be nice, but in my opinion I think we lean too far into the bait and too far into “dunking.” This isn’t a condemnation based on civility politics, but a rational desire to focus on higher quality posts and comments for onlookers. Being as edgy as possible can spark constructive conversation in the comments, but constructive conversation can also happen with good agitprop that has a convincing argument within the meme itself.

The armchair propaganda and meme critic in me thinks this also conflates anti-imperial violence with imperial/settler-colonial violence and perhaps could better communicate the reality in some other way. Violence is necessary in struggles against violent oppression and resistance is not equivalent to ethnic cleansing, genocide, economic siege, or liberal coups.

In my opinion, war is always full of crime. You can have crime without war, but you can’t have war without crime. If by “war crime” you mean Geneva convention, nobody follows that, either.

The winner prosecutes the loser, no exceptions.

Every time I see such memes, I remind myself that lemmy.ml is blocked in:

    • China (including Hong Kong)

    • Iran

    • North Korea

    It is currently unblocked in:

    • The United States

    • Israel (and Palestine)

    • Ukraine

    • EU

    • Pretty much the rest of the world

    • Russia

Though I worry about Russia, as they’ve already blocked Bluesky and at least one part of the fediverse: https://lemmy.world/post/14156170

(And FYI I checked these regions myself, with a VPN, and then when another external tool, just now).

Because lemmy.ml federates with the broader Lemmyverse. So if instances like .world is blocked, that same content is visible on .ml so it’s blocked too.

Defederate from us and we might have a chance.

lemmy.ml was not blocked because of lemmy.world. Or other federated instances, as far as I can tell through testing a few.

.ml was blocked because the .ml domain was blocked due to it being a free domain mostly used for spam (although I’m sure some groups/sites have petitioned and had their non spam sites unblocked). Also things being blocked by the firewall doesn’t really mean much on a personal level when we all have a VPN. You clearly don’t understand the purpose of the firewall.

Liberals love this little factoid because it makes China seem “authoritarian” and therefore “bad” when in reality you can just use a VPN and do whatever you want. it’s (one of the ways) kinda how I get free stuff in the USA and I hate computers you just gotta do a tiny tiny bit of research but I’ve seen in China it’s like an open secret you could prob just get some stranger to tell you how
