    Why not both? A better world is certainly possible. It’s also possible to flip 100 coins and get all heads. The question is how probable it is, and in that sense we might be fucked.

      The world is a big place and “better” is a very relative term.

      When we talk about Americans catastrophizing over the end of the dollar menu while folks in Kenya and Bangledesh and Brazil and Indonesia experience indoor plumbing and electrification for the first time in their lives… It’s very likely we’ll experience both.

      Quite literally the Best of Times and the Worst of Times.
