    Dinosaurs died to a volcano

To be fair, it’s only fairly recently that meteor induced climate change has been established as the root cause. Up until then, there were several theories, and one of them was a supermassive volcano.

I mean the impact likely set off a bunch of tectonic activity and intense volcanic activity increases greenhouse gases, and dinosaurs ultimately died due to habitat loss and not direct blunt force trauma so… Volcanoes are maybe sequelae 2 or 3 in a chain of interrelated consequences.

That made me wonder if it’s theoretically possible to die from blunt force trauma from a dinosaur-ending-sized meteor.

I mean, for starters, there’s gotta be a huge shockwave of plasma around it. Besides, at that scale, in such a short time, I think it’s hard to clearly define an actual cause of death as there are so many unhealthy things affectedyou at once; At some point you judt suddenly stop being alive and start being physics.
