Wait, I thought in a free economy buyer and seller agree on a price and then the sale takes place?
If Germany was not paying enough, why are pharma companies handing over the drugs?
And wouldn’t the state interfering in that be Socialism?

If we don’t exploit our most vulnerable, in their darkest hours, why are we even doing capitalism?

Because in Trump world everything’s a zero sum game. The global profit of the drug manufacturers is set. Unchangeable, that’s the baseline. So if the US is paying too much then somebody else has to pay too little. That’s also why he proposed most favoured nation as a policy for drug pricing las year.

Of course he could also negotiate drug prices the way Germany does it, but that would cut into corporate profits

The US is like super special and can’t be doing anything wrong. So if someone has a better deal, they must be cheating or doing something very bad. /s

Germany is simply following Trumpy’s example of the “art of the deal.” But instead of trumplet’s failure to implement this idea (Iran war), Germany seems to be quite successful at it.
