When the Elon Musk-affiliated Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) swept through Washington in 2025, slashing the workforce of federal agencies, the ramifications were far-reaching.

Those decisions are now drawing renewed scrutiny as the New World screwworm, a parasitic threat to livestock and other animals, resurfaces in Texas, and questions emerge about whether federal agencies have enough resources to contain it.

It didn’t just show up, it was being held at bay until those cuts eliminated it.

What’s even stupider is that Trump cut the pandemic office before Covid hit.

You’ve seen real world consequences of cutting prevention and still do it??

I hate constantly having to remind people who give him credit for ‘warp speed’ that we only needed that because he fired the pandemic response team and threw away the pandemic handbook written by the Bush administration and updated by the Obama administration along with a bunch of other shit with Obama’s name attached to it.

Obama invited Trump to participate in a table top run through to show how they dealt with Ebola.

Trump declined, and didn’t send anyone.

Apparently, the main reason the pandemic office got shut down was that Trump was angry at his National Security Advisor and fired the Advisor’s friend, an admiral who’d been managing the Office.

Maybe Iran can lend us ~$300,000,000,000 to reconstruct some of our damaged institutions.

“What we did was reallocate resources and prioritize what matters, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used effectively while leaning in aggressively on preparedness.”

no administration is stupider and as dangerous as the trump administration for US citizens, and their actions prove this statement.
